Americana Collectors — Local services in Independence

My wife and I went in to inquire about a coin we had found recently. We thought that it might be worth something. We are not coin collectors and not knowing what to look for we contacted Lee. His first words were, "that's not worth anything." He hardly look at it. The other employee was polite and was trying to explain that it was a souvenir coin and not worth anything. But Lee was not interested and said, "it's junk." I get that it was a souvenir and that it was worthless. But I do not treat my customers like that at my store. He was rude and unprofessional. I do not recommend this store for anyone who is just starting out in collecting or has little to no knowledge. You will not be treated right. You would think that someone who is passionate about coin collecting as he obviously is, or he wouldn't be there, would be happy to help amateurs and budding collectors in stead of making them feel like they are idiots. Nice, professional, secure little coin and bullion store front. First thing I appreciated was how the entrance/exit is designed. There's a vestibule area you walk into first, where another door that is lock controlled by the owner opens to the show floor. Seemed to have lots of numismatic goodies as well as bullion type coins and secondary market precious metals. I went in a couple weeks ago to liquidate some 5oz silver bars. Total 30oz. The transaction was swift, to the point and professional. I was offered fair market value for all 30oz, with a little bonus sprinkled on top for some sweet Italprizoli 5oz silver bars 15oz total. Going off others positive reviews I figured I would see if I would have any luck but, once again I was judged by my looks as soon as I walked in the door... Before I even got my coin collection out I was told that my coins were worthless and that I basically had junk and they had no interest in purchasing anything I had... I know I don't have gold coins but I have things ranging from 1898 Penny's to 1943 and 1944 Penny's steel and copper any many others... So my review of this place is negative stars if I could give them I get it all the time being judged by my tattoos but from reviews I thought I might have luck, thought wrong... I do believe I am well mannered and polite and always get this type of treatment but I'm used to it. Just thought I would share if you have tattoos or anything besides white collar I wish you...
