Read moreThis store is akin to Aldi's of 20+ years ago. RABBIT TRAIL ALERT: Been shopping at Aldi's for years and years now. ..from when they first opened in my area. Back then, it was a no frills place where basics and a slight bit more were sold at excellent prices. Never mind that parallel to Aldi's has always been Trader Joe's, run by the brother of Aldi's owner, Aldi's kept it simple. Through the years, however, the A-chain began to stretch it's wings carrying more and more of the inventory that reflected their German roots. From there, in reflection of the area near the store locally, regionally, economically and culturally, some clothes were sold (bought my winter gloves there), certain gourmet foodstuffs, small appliances etc. Then the decision to carry alcohol was made, and that section followed the same growth pattern: start simple, add a bit and continue the item ONLY IF IT SOLD WELL. Wise move.
Ergo, while all the basics could be found at ALL area Aldi's, certain interesting items would be found either NOT at ALL, or in greater supply, at one store vs. another regional or state store. I get why. Aldi's couldn't compete price -wise otherwise.
For example, this Pendleton Pike outlet, sold natural peanut butter long, long before the Aldi's in my hometown did; however, certain ethnic foods were carried in greater supply at "my" store than were found here.
This location is now the closest to me, and I was REALLY looking forward to shopping here figuring it would have more niche items given the nearby urban area. Sigh, NOT the case.
Listen up management! This gourmet chef operating on a shoe string needs the Aldi's others across the state are. While I understand why the inventory lacks variety, try to build it back to the way this store was 2/3 years ago when I...
Read moreHad a HORRIBLE experience today 2/17/25. I've been a loyal customer for 6+ years. I have never been mistreated like the way I was today. At 7:20 they started YELLING at the people inside to hurry up because they were closing at 8. Before I was at the checkout two families were trying to come in and the manager started yelling at them to go back were closed, when it wasn't even 8. One of the families even told her that it wasn't even 8 and she still would not let him in. When we got to the cashier, we asked what time they closed, and they replied "We close at 8, but after 8 we have to clean. We have to leave too" The person with me told the cashier that it wasn't fair to kick people out at 7:50, afterwords she started having an attitude. And the cashier even brought our race into this. "We don't do that here, but maybe that's how you do it in Mexico" A comment that had nothing to do with what we were asking. The manager did nothing but agree with the cashier. The manager then proceeded to tell us "If you don't like how we do things, you can be escorted out by the police". The manager continued to say racist comments to me like, "I can barely understand what you're saying". Then the cashier even told me "You'll say this inside but won't say it outside" Implying she wanted to fight. The manager did nothing but encourage her behavior. Once we started to leave, the cashier told us "If you don't like it enjoy Kroger or Walmart". This is what I remember, they said a LOT more. You can even check the cameras. I would really like to have the corporates phone number before this complaint...
