At Home — Local services in Indianapolis

Worst customer service I have experienced in a long time! I purchased an outdoor lawn ornament at the Avon location a week ago, and the item broke within 2 hours of me placing it in my lawn. Today, I took it in to get an exchange and two things occurred:

1. the lady at the register didn’t say one word to me, and when I explained my story to her she rolled her eyes and turned and yelled for the manager to come

2. when the manager came he told me that it wasn’t At Homes fault that the item broke and he would not be giving me a refund or an in store credit since it broke on my property.

For that to happen in today’s world where Amazon has made returns so easy even if an item did break on my property, it appalled me that this was the service I received.

To top it off, we just moved and tonight I was actually looking forward to doing a little shopping at At Home, but with this experience, I immediately walked out. They were very rude and not customer focused. Even if they weren’t going to give me a refund, at least be...

First time shopper at this store and there will be no need for me to return, although I would like to shop here. My intention was to purchase 4 casual chairs, a table and lamps. My first visit to the store was to see if they had what I was looking for and they did. My second visit was to make the purchase. There was no indication on how to purchase large furniture items as there is one on display and it is a warehouse concept.. A customer needs to go looking for "help" but there is absolutely no staff on the floor. I finally went to the checkout, only to be given a dumb look when I asked how to make a furniture purchase. I then asked if I write the number down and bring it to the checkout. As English was obviously not her native language, she did not even have a basic understanding of my questions. Warehouse size store filled with a huge selection of home furnishings and decor. You could easily spend an hour in here just browsing. Their decorative items are great and priced reasonably.

I was shopping for a small end table and a dresser. They have an impressive array of end tables, of many styles and sizes. However, I was looking for a good quality (heavy and sturdy) dresser that could support the weight of a TV on top. I wasn't happy with the quality of the dressers I saw -- they felt cheap and the drawers did not slide out smoothly. I was willing to spend the money for a better quality piece, but didn't find the right one on this trip.

Overall, this place is definitely worth a stop if you are shopping for home furnishings. However, if you want a high quality, heavy, sturdy piece of furniture, you may want to also plan a trip to a...
