I've visited Elf 'N Moon a multitude of times and every time was an incredible experience. From the day they opened and there was a line of people all the way down the street to just last night for one of my first Gundam New Type Challenge tournaments, every single time I am greeted with a smile and nothing less than an incredibly helpful staff and amazing atmosphere.
At last night's tournament, the experience was perfect. I live about an hour from the store and wasn't able to make it in to sign up before the event. I asked John if I could join in and he let me know it was full, but that if someone didn't make it he would try to get me in. After the check-in time, John was able to snag me a seat since a couple of people who had signed up didn't show. Immediately upon check-in, the staff handed out our promotional cards and packs and went over the rules and potential prizes.
The tournament itself was run impeccably. The store limits the number of people who can join so that there is plenty of room for everyone, both tournament participants and regular customers just wanting to come in and play. I was quite appreciative of this, since I would hate for other customers not interested in Gundam to lose out on getting to enjoy this amazing store on a Saturday night. The space we were set in (over by the snacks and beverages) was plenty of space for gameplay while also feeling close-knit, encouraging conversations with other players in between each round.
At the end of the tournament, it was time for the prizes and raffles. Prizes were handed out to the top 4, which made sense given the lower limit of players. However, even if you didn't make top 4, the store generously raffled off several booster packs and other prizes, making sure everyone had a chance to win something on top of the promotional cards and packs that were already handed out.
Overall this tournament was an incredible experience, though I'm not too surprised given how incredible this store always is. It's always a pleasure walking into Elf 'N Moon and seeing the smiles on everyone's faces, staff included. They really know how to create an amazing vibe for us gamers and I can not recommend this...
Read moreWe stopped by to see what they had to offer regarding cards and games and were blown away by the shop's interior! It was like you were in a tavern, a proper gathering hub! They have a solid selection of games and TCGs such as Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Lorcana, Flesh and Blood, just to name a few. They were kind of cleaned out with some products due to it being the Christmas season when we visited. We only wanted to check out what they had and buy some packs and singles but we ended up staying for HOURS just looking around and playing. The community is great, customers would come in and ask to play with us and there was always a pod going for commander/EDH. As the day continued the place really filled up and it was such a wholesome community vibe going on. Store owners conversing with regulars, people enjoying their hobbies, people making new friends. The owners are also super helpful with questions and getting you what you are looking for. They are also very passionate about gaming and creating an environment for that. For their prereleases, (I have not been to one but had asked about it) they order pizza for everyone, their prizing is phenomenal compared to other game stores I had visited, and they make sure everyone who participates walks away with at least something. They have snacks and drinks as well as alcoholic beverages which is a nice little plus if you imbibe such. Prices were fair and card pricing is based on TCGplayer pricing. If you are looking for a place to play games or even learn games this is the perfect place. They hold certain game nights and even a night where you can learn certain games as well! Their discord holds a lot of that information too and is also a good way to gather a group together for games! They also have 2 rooms you could rent out, should you want to have your own space for your group to play. 4-hour time blocks, 20 dollars per person. We had a wonderful time here and can't...
Read moreCame for the grand opening and have continuously come back. They don't offer the widest selection in all of Indy, but they definitely have some unique items you're not going to find anywhere else. They have a great selection of board games, miniature games, and pen-and-paper RPGs. Their playing space is definitely the most comfortable and best looking out of any other shop in Indy. It's even better than the old Doughnuts & Dragons. It's a cozy hobbit/tavern theme with some private rooms in the back for rent. They have additional accessories you can rent out for your tabletop games or you can sit down at one of the tables with a built-in display to use their virtual maps. The owners are there fairly often, and they are friendly and knowledgeable along with the rest of the staff we've interacted with. They're definitely a mainstay for our family, and we're excited for them to start rolling...
