A friend and I visited this shop during the TSwift concert weekend, expecting it to be busy and were probably some of the only local customers in the long line. We ordered 2 food and 2 drinks (Carmel and a Ghost Face). We then paid for the items and patiently waited. We got our food ordered but stood at the counter for 20minutes longer until we realized people who ordered way after us were leaving with their drink. After a while of standing at the counter and nobody addressing us, my friend asked an employee if they had our order. They immediately came off rude saying they don't have any order under our name(EVEN THOUGH THE SAME LADY HAD JUST CHECKED US OUT??) We then tell them what we had ordered and the barista says "well we have been out of the ghost face for like an hour" .... but we had just ordered it 30 minutes ago and paid for it and the barista did NOT said they were out?? On top of that we never received the carmel drink anyways?? They basically just disregarded our whole drink order and blamed it on us for ordering something they were out of??? So trying to be considerate to them I tell them no worries we will just have 2 carmel drinks. Then they hand us literal milk and carmel sauce? Literally tasted like there was not a drop of espresso in there. I can deal with a shit coffee but the disrespect?? Not once did any of them seem apologetic in any way for any part of this encounter and essential blamed us. Pretty insane considering if we would not have asked them about our order we would have never got any drinks because they “DID NOT HAVE OUR ORDER”?? Our money and our time was completely wasted and disrespected. The "coffee" was so bad we literally threw it away and went elsewhere. The customer service is by far the scariest thing about this place. If you are looking for a true horror this is the...
Read moreGlad to see another coffee shop in FSQ. Let me start off by saying that the women working were very nice. I’m not really one for the theme of the place, but it’s different from the normal coffee shop vibe so I’ll give it to them.
Unfortunately, the coffee is where things go wrong. I’m a big coffee person. I’ve tried just about every shop in the city. I have a chemex and an espresso machine at my place. My first time at a shop I always order an americano or something with little flavor to get a feel for the coffee itself and how it’s prepared. So, if you’re into the flavored lattes, more milk than coffee sort of thing, this place might be for you. When you make espresso, you can’t just grind beans into a portafilter without timing it, and you can’t just tamp the mound of coffee down by hand without leveling it. Doing that will result in a sour, under-extracted shot. This is exactly what I watched them do and exactly what I received. The good thing is, this can easily be improved. I have hope for the shop. Just do a little bit of training on how to make the coffee properly, and the product will improve quickly. It’s also a bit high price wise, but not terrible. Iced americano $5.45. Usually I see it around $4. Again, only $1.45 difference, but that mixed with the taste is what will keep me from coming...
