The BEST cat café/café period! I relocated from Indiana to California and I still make sure to include Nine Lives in any trips I make to the midwest. It's one of my favorite places in the city for so many reasons! Not only are the cats and kittens adorable and adoptable, the café menu is incredible. They have plenty of vegan and vegetarian food and baked treat options and their warm and iced drinks are better than any chain or mom & pop spot I've experienced. The entrance is lined with gorgeous cat themed artwork from local artist that are available for purchase. The owner and staff are warm, welcoming, and informative. They go above and beyond to make your visit safe and enjoyable - you can really tell how much they love the cats and the work that they do! If you're looking to adopt a kitty in the greater Indianapolis area, or you're just looking to add some joy to your week, make your reservation, head to Fountain Square, and order a cat sized dirty chai with oat milk and spiced brown sugar syrup. I hope it'll become one of your favorite places, too!

We visited 3 cat cafes in the area on a weekend getaway. This was my least favorite of the 3 only because it was the most chaotic. I get that there were adoptions going on in the back room- I’m not counting those people in my count of the guests. At one point I counted 22 adults and 5 kids in the room with the kittens and seats were not even available. From what i gathered people were not being asked to leave when their time was up and more people kept entering. There was one gentleman with a laser pointer going the entire time and no staff telling him or anyone else to chill the kittens were chasing it to the point of frustration. He had the kittens over stimulated and frustrated. We left after half hour before our time was up because it wasn’t comfortable- there were way too many people without a staff member in there to supervise. One gentleman gave us rules to not pick up the cats and let us in but he was not in the room except for when he let more people in through the door.

We stopped in on a Sunday morning to have some coffee with cats and kittens. You can book a 30-min or 60-min time slot online for a small fee per person to go into the cat room. Most, not all, of the cats are up for adoption! They also have coffee and tea drinks with a selection of baked goods that you can order. I had a seasonal sakura drink with boba and and brownie; both were good. Also, the interior is full of cat artwork, jewelry and other paraphernalia for sale. It's quite the eclectic collection and a purrfect place to shop for yourself or a fellow cat lover. The cats were so sweet! We played with them and got to pet a lot of them. We had one cat trying to sneak into the kitten room, which was funny😸 I had to catch him. No problems and a great time!

Updated review: I will admit that in my last review was a little over the top, and that was my fault and my fault only. I got a response from the company that was very nice and apologetic, and I found that to be a very mature and sweet way for them to tell me what really was happening. I now realize that the people who told us to come back were not employees, but were instead working with the comedy show that was going on. Since then, I have visited to thus warm and welcoming place with lots of cute cats! This is not a place to pass up, it is really something special.

Previous review: Family was in town so we wanted to see if we could sit and relax with the cats and some drinks. I was very excited to go, saw the cats on the way up and it looked very nice. It was only when I went in that it earned one star. It was comedy night, and so the entrance was packed. We talked to an employee who was outside and she said that we could just ask to go into the cat room, there was just no place to sit. When we went inside, we had teens with us and an employee rushed to get us out because the show had cursing. We told her we just wanted to go into the cat room and if we can quick go in, but she said to come back in 10 minutes when the show was over. We came back 10 minutes later and she said 5 more minutes. Obviously you just didn't want my money, so we left. Sad that I wasn't able to go while family...

Let me start by saying I might have just gone at the wrong time. However, when my wife and I went we did not feel we got our money's worth. The drinks were a tad on the expensive side and the brownie my wife got was okay. Nothing to write home about. Obviously, people aren't attracted to this place for their drinks. The whole expectation is to be in a café with cats. So, they have two separate seating areas, one is the café and the other is the cat lounge and they charge you per hour or half hour to sit in there. That's all good and well. The real reason I'm not real happy is that they sold us our time and then when we actually got in the cat lounge the attendant explained to us it's a bad time since everyone's asleep. I just feel like they could have been more upfront about that. Also, my wife had to wait while my son and I went in due to reservations. If you plan on going with more than two people I would recommend making a reservation and try to go when cats are normally active. I left before my time was up because all those reservations finally showed up with loud kids and the 2 cats that had emerged ran and hid again. One drink and a brownie with a half hour for two people came to $13. If I were to go again it would probably be during the week when all the families aren't out roaming. The baristas did say it's busier on...

Nine Lives Cat Café is a charming and unique spot that combines the coziness of a coffee shop with the delightful presence of cats. Located in a friendly neighborhood, this café provides a relaxing environment where visitors can enjoy a variety of beverages and light snacks while mingling with the resident cats, all of whom are adoptable and come from local shelters.

The atmosphere inside Nine Lives is warm and inviting, with comfortable seating and plenty of space to either play with the cats or just observe their playful antics. The staff are passionate about their feline friends and are knowledgeable about each cat's personality and needs, making them excellent resources for visitors who might be considering adoption.

A useful tip for visiting Nine Lives Cat Café is to book your visit in advance, especially on weekends or during holiday seasons when the café tends to be busier. This ensures you'll have a designated time slot to spend with the cats without overcrowding. Additionally, if you're considering adopting, visiting multiple times can help you build a bond with a cat before deciding to take them home.

Overall, Nine Lives Cat Café offers a soothing retreat for cat lovers and a potential forever home for its feline occupants. It's a wonderful way to enjoy your coffee break and maybe find a new furry...
