Went there for a Union Arena Tournament. Owner did not give proper prize cards. Only gave 1st place their winner card and said no one else gets one. Also did not give participants their promo AP packs. Thought it was fishy and sure enough you can see he sells prize support on his TCG Player shop. He even made comments about the dollar amount that the prize cards are worth. Tried to make it better by giving everyone packs but it still doesn't make up for his questionable business practices. Seemed more interested in streaming Lorcana on Twitch than running the tournament. Will not be returning. Cool dog though.
EDIT IN RESPONSE TO OWNER
Attached are images of out of stock items on their shop, which means that at one point in time they sold them in their shop, its the only way they would populate in the fields. He can grand stand all he wants, he was uninformed on the game and its rules and was irrelevant in the playing process. Didn't even set timers for half the rounds. Dont hold events if you are uninterested in the game or giving the participants a...
Read moreI have been to nearly ever game store in greater Grand Rapids, and this was the worst. The building is a state of disrepair. The store was filthy, and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I visited to play a Magic the Gathering Regional Qualifier tournament, and the owner/judge/tournament organizer clearly did not care about the tournament. He went upstairs to help other customers, and played Force of Will (whilst recording a YouTube video?) instead of running the event in the dungeon-like basement, which also left him unable to properly judge the tournament, as required per the MTR. While having a store dog seems endearing, having a store dog beg for the food you do not have while you are trying to play a match of Magic is not endearing. I am not sure that the children running around throughout the store were the fault of the store itself, but either way was unacceptable. I would not recommend this...
Read moreWent there to sell some cards. The way the man who appraised my card collection handled me after turning down his initial offer was kind of disappointing. He pushed my cards away slowly and wouldn't make any counter offers, didn't say another word, and didn't really even make much eye contact with me after. I can understand being disappointed but if he had tried like the rest of the staff to be polite me afterwards, I might have felt more inclined to visit again as a customer instead of a seller. This place might be fun for buyers and people participating in game nights, but maybe not the best for people...
