Pizza Ranch is a good place to go if you like pizza buffet style. All you can eat pizza for $10.99 for lunch Monday through Friday, $12.99 lunch on Saturday and Sunday as well as dinner every day of the week. Along with several different pizza options, Pizza Ranch offers chicken and homestyle sides such as mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, macaroni and cheese, potato wedges, vegetables, cottage cheese and so on. The pizza and chicken are pretty good, as well as the side options. About what you would expect from a buffet. Options differ from day to day and from lunch and dinner. Sometimes they have pasta and sauce as an option as well. They also have the traditional salad bar for healthier options. Dessert consists of dessert pizza, ice cream and pudding. The ice cream is only vanilla and there are no toppings to be had. Not a big deal but would be nice to have some different flavors of ice cream and toppings. The Iowa City Pizza Ranch also houses an arcade room called the Fun Zone which has numerous arcade games that allow you to accumulate tickets for prizes. A card is purchased with credits on it for the games and then the tickets won at each machine is added to the card digitally for ease of use. No having to lug tickets around no more. Prizes are consistent with a lot of arcades and prizes range from 5 tickets up to 1000 I believe. Overall Pizza Ranch is an ok buffet at an ok price to take yourself or family or friends, especially if you are hungry and can eat your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA) The place was a disaster. Most of the tables were filthy. There was one person cleaning tables. He was very slow about it, never touched the chairs or benches where people had dropped food. He used the same old dirty rag to "clean" all the tables. I could see bits of food embedded in it as he wiped down tables. Just a breeding ground for germs. A stack of dirty glasses were set down at a table next to us and they sat there the entire time.
Food choices were mediocre. They had specialty pizzas out which is great for trying something new but they had no classics at all the whole time. So no pepperoni for example. The food that I had was very good though. I'd liked to have had chicken but it was so greasy the skins were falling off right there in the buffet. Some sides were gone and never replenished. I usually like the potato wedges for example.
It's no fault of that evening that I went but the acoustics of the place is terrible. Every plate, every fork, every slurp of a glass just echoes throughout the place. There's a lot of hard surfaces and lack of insulation.
It was the filthiness of the place that really just killed the experience. It was bad, bad, bad. Some other things I could overlook but I couldn't wait to get out. I should have gotten pictures. Wish I had.
I frequent the Beaver Creek, North Liberty, Pizza Ranch normally and it's night and day. The North Liberty one is always very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent there today around 2:50 pm. The place had maybe 12 people there eating. I was able to find one table in the entire place that had 4 chairs and a clean table. Every single table except for a couple tables with a total of 12 people in the entire place was completely filthy. They all were covered in dirty plates and dirty glasses. It was one of the most disgusting places i have ever been too. The worst part was two employees were sitting at a clean table eating while several elderly people started to come in and could not find a place to sit that was not covered with dirty plates and glasses. I even took pictures of the the empty places but yet all the tables covered in filth. I will never eat at this pizza ranch again. Never seen anything like it. I understand there is a big staffing shortage nationwide, but i watched a person running the register, a person in the kitchen, a person filling plates, a person in the game room and two employees eating while 95% of the tables were covered with used napkins, dirty plated, food piled up and dirty glasses. Im not one to comment on something like this but it should be noted. Either change your ways or close your doors. I know of someone asks me about the pizza ranch, i will say go elsewhere or...
