Firehouse Subs HWY One IC — Restaurant in Iowa City

Wow!!! Great food, amazing service, and very nice atmosphere. Would certainly recommend!

Our first ever visit to Firehouse Subs was FANTASTIC! We let others behind us order as I explained it was our first experience there. A guy came out from behind the counter and explained the ins and outs, gave sandwich recommendations, etc. LOVED THIS!! Not sure if he was the owner or manager, but impressive customer service skills 👏

I ordered the Chicken Parmesan Meatball and it was the BEST sandwich I've ever had!! I used to be a Subway kinda girl, but forget them and go to Firehouse Subs. You won't regret it because the food is FIRE! My fiancé ordered the Spicy Cajun Chicken Sandwich and he truly enjoyed his as well. (I didn't get a picture of his). The 12" can be made into two meals and leave you full with the first half for the same price as Subway, but I'm always still hungry after my first half there.

They also have these plastic children's fire helmets. I nicely asked if I could have a couple for the kiddos and they were happy to let me grab them. How exciting for...

I'll try to make this short. First time trying Firehouse and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, inside the restaurant was filthy, most staff members weren't wearing their masks properly, the freestyle Coke machine made my original Coke taste fruity, and they messed up my order. I placed the order online and the print ticket was correct but the sub was missing an add-on that I paid for. I took the online survey that was on the back of the receipt and filled it out honestly and in great detail. A day later I received a call from someone claiming to be an owner wanting to discuss my experience, but I didn't have time that very moment so I asked him to call me back in ten minutes. He just gave me attitude and never did call me back. It's obvious that they don't care at all about their customers at...

This place is a little frustrating. They’re so close to being good but consistently make the same mistakes. I’ve been eating there on and off since they opened, and recently started going back because of a weekly thing I do nearby.

Every. Single. Time. I’ve had a sandwich here, it’s been incredibly over sauced or over dressed. Doesn’t matter if I ask specifically for them to take it easy on the mayo or whatever sauce is on the sandwich - by the time I eat (and sometimes I do that in the store) the whole sandwich is soggy and bogged down with sauce. I’ve never had that issue with subway or Jimmy John’s.

Service is consistently ok but I took a couple stars because they never ask about the rewards app, and about half the time the people behind the counter look like ordering is...
