World Market — Local services in Irvine

GOTTA LOVE IT ! We were runnin' low on a few of our favorite things...that we can only find here. My wife and I headed over here around 2pm on Friday. The public parking lot was almost full but we found a good spot close to the store. While my wife checked out the greeting cards upfront I walked to the back of the store lookin' for the goodies. FIRST UP ! Tim Tam chocolate coated cookies....the number one selling cookie in Australia...I grabbed a pack of extra Chocolaty. Close by I nailed 2 jars of Aussie Vegemite. Moving on I picked out some Laceys chocolate coated cookies...1 x Dark Chocolate & Almond With Mandarin And Cardamom plus 1 x Dark Chocolate & Almond With Raspberry And Rhubarb ( something new ). In the meantime my wife bought a neat pop-up greeting card and a funny 2024 Cat Calendar for her cat lovin' sister, plus a pack of Darrell Lea Australian Licorice for our daughter ( memories of her visit to Australia ). THAT WAS IT ! Even though the store wasn't very busy everyone hit the checkouts at once so we waited a few minutes to pay for our selections. Fast friendly service from the...

I spend so much money at World Market but will not shop here again. I ordered two outdoor chairs online that were included in the furniture discount. When I received them, one was completely broken and not remotely usable. I was obviously disappointed but hoped that customer service could help turn things around. When I called several times no one answered. Instead I emailed asking for a replacement part. Took over a month for a response which to some extent is reasonable given current conditions. However, when I finally got a response, the chair was sold out. Customer service said I could return both chairs even though one doesn't have a box anymore. They refused to help pick up the chairs however given that one does not have the box. So now I need to figure out how to fit the chair in my car and lift them myself. Also, I asked if I could purchase two different chairs with the furniture discount and they said they could only apply if I purchased the same chair, which I can't because they told me it was sold out. Such an inconvenience to return and rectify the situation and service was not...

Well, well, well, what do we have here? A World Market in Tustin that's lost its mojo since Covid hit? I've been a World Market shopper for what feels like a million years, and let me tell you, I'm not impressed. The stocking of their items is all over the place, like a drunk octopus trying to organize a pantry. And don't even get me started on their wine and beer selection. It's like they took a page out of my grandma's book and decided to only stock the non-alcoholic stuff.

Honestly, I'm starting to worry that this place is going to be the next Bed Bath and Beyond - you know, the store that was always next door but no one ever went to until it closed down. But despite all my complaints, there's one thing I miss the most - my precious UK chocolates. Come on, World Market, get your act together and bring back the good stuff.
