May 2018 pt. 2: They just stopped their late night happy hour. Last reason we even came to this most-out-of-the-way eatery at the Marketplace. Lost another star.
May 2018 update wherein rating goes from 5 to 3 stars: Truffle oil still used and is still not good and is still overpowering but whatever I guess. Beers still served in the thicc goblet unless you get the Patsy, which is annoying but I can deal since I've learned to just only get the Patsy. But as I've grown wiser and more tolerable, true offenses stand out.
-1 star: Burgers still prepared with lettuce below the patty by default which is actually a sin and has made me drop them a star since I've noticed these were not isolated incidents but rather a policy. Please construct burgers with toppings on top of the patty and you'll get this star back.
-1 star: if your fries are hand cut then you certainly won't mind adding a thick fry option. Not everyone likes skinny fries. They suck for dipping and are too short so you get queso on your fingers if you want a substantial dip (which is ultimately not possible). Theres just a ton of queso left in the cup because your fries just can't get it. You gotta make either thick cut chip-shaped fries or just wider fries like steak fries. It's honestly another sin. Shoestring fries are the devil's work.
June 2017 update: they're still using truffle oil. Stop it! It's not good! But ~ the stout I had was in a pint glass so things are looking up.
Original review: I had really low expectations on the way over to this place. I super hate the name Hopdoddy. I get that it's Hop for beer and Doddy is apparently a cow, but holy dang I don't like saying it at all. I was certain that it was going to be mediocre based on name alone.
Name aside, the tap selection is pretty decent and I love that they focus on pretty much just burgers and fries, but there's salad and shakes on the menu, too. For being opening night, there was surprisingly efficient service and no mistakes on anything we ordered, all while it being decently busy the whole time we were there.
Biggest gripe though, is that they could do without using truffle oil on anything in the menu. I saw it on just 2 things but if anyone around you orders it, it's basically like you ordered it too - so overbearing. Can't wait until that trend dies. Minor gripe is most beers were served in a thick goblet which is a tad unwieldy - pint glasses would be just fine.
Burgers were great and I will return to try many of them. Fries with green chile queso was good even though my personal preference is thick fries, and these are thin. Altogether a supes good addition to the...
Read moreThe first issue that we had when ordering at this place, was the fact that it took forever to get through the line. There weren't very many people in front of us, but it took about 5 minutes per person to get their orders. Once it was our time, we understood why, the person taking the orders was either very new, or has never worked on a computer before. Once our order was taken we grabbed our drinks and headed over to the drinking fountain for the ice tea. The tea didn't taste bad, but I wasn't able to get any lemons due to the fact that they hadn't been kept on ice and were brown. After the fries were brought out, I went up to ask for ranch and get some ketchup, the ranch bottle that they tried to give me ranch out of was yellow and crusty at the top and didn't look like it had been kept on ice either. I asked the guy for some fresh ranch that was cold, he gave me a dirty look but got some from the ice bin. We ate the fries, they were good, if not a little bland. The burgers came out and as I cut mine in half I noticed that it was a little more pink than it should have been, so I picked it up to inspect it a little more. The burger was RAW, not just a little raw, but really RAW! You could still see the white fat that is mixed in with the beef raw. I took it back up to the counter and the guy gave me an exasperated look as I tried to explain that my burger was raw, he asked how I usually order my burger, I told him usually medium on the rare side, not raw and asked for them to make it medium on the done side. He took the burger and about 10 minutes later they gave me a new burger. The burger had great flavor and had a kick (I ordered the El Diablo) but the burger itself was really small and not worth the amount of headache and cost of the meal. I don't recommend this place...

Had to give this place a try for dinner since it's down the street from my home and something new. As we walked to the door we were kindly greeted and held at the door until the line moved a bit. There was about 10 people ahead of us we were getting impatient because we waited over 30 mins in line just to order our food. I was shocked that there was only 1 person taking orders for a Friday dinner rush. Not only was there just 1 person, that 1 person kept on getting interrupt by other servers for questions and requests. As we waited in line we were greeted by another person for a headcount for a table. After we ordered we had a ticket for a table number and assigned to a server. Which confused me because soft drinks water and others were self served. Is this a restaurant?????? Do i tip???? The only thing our server did was grab us 2 ranch sauces.
The Food- buns are made fresh everyday and beef grinded/grounded in house.
I ordered the magic shroom Burger & chili con queso fries. Burger wasn't too bad i was disappointed with my fries it was pretty oilly i had to eat my friend Parm truffle fries with my chili con queso dip. The hubby got the poblano burger, it had a perfect blend of flavors, i enjoyed his burger more than mine. My friend ordered the Primetime ($13 their most expensive beef burger) he wasn't satisfied in not sure if it was the disappointment that the patty came well done rather than medium as requested. We're not one to complain or send food back......
Beer and drink selection is...
