My sad & frustrating experiences after going to India Bazaar grocery stores for several years since there are the only two major Indian grocery store chains scattered all around greater DFW Metroplex.
Horrible and incompetent customer service (because underpaid staff, owners/managers never available - not even their contact info.per store clerks). It seems, some of the workers, cashiers etc. are illegal in the U.S. and may not have work authorization.
Dishonest owners (apparently), since, on multiple occasions found the prices on shelves marked deliberately false and much lower than what we were charged at cash register (in order to push their excess inventory) in spite of registering several complaints. Even the store clerks physically verified the wrong prices marked on the shelves but said they were helpless, and not allowed to change. Initially, they tried to shift the blame on the stocking person but week after week the same situation of false prices, and some for the same merchandise!. Unfortunately, many innocent shoppers don't discover the discrepancies and wrong charges because it is hard to remember prices of every item in a shopping cart full of merchandise.
3.Food items being sold after their expiry date, and when we tried to return it, they refused a refund. Also, on many food packages, found the expiry date either smeared or illegible.
Since only two main Indian grocery store chains scattered throughout the Metroplex, and a rather large Indian population, and not much competition, the owners are taking advantage of the captive market! Besides, majority of their Indian customers are in the U.S. on a temporary work visas, they don't know any better and tolerate such bad practices as are common in 3rd world countries!
It seems, the only way to put some sense in to the owners and let them see beyond their greed and quick profits is for us to report them to the government authorities, such as FDA (Food & Drug Administration); Better Business Bureau; the Dept of Consumer Affairs,; and the Health Department, the Local cites that have jurisdiction of their locations, and Texas Attorney General's Office etc.; and let them raid their premises!
I am wondering that if the owners of India Bazaar have been in the U.S. for a long time, and minting money from their crowded stores, why have they not learnt the business practices of honesty, cleanliness, customer service, and fairness as you notice in other American and foreign owned...
Read moreVery poor customer service , they don’t know how to void an items from transaction . Untrained and unprofessional people are working in this store , they don’t know how to run the cash register or fix the problem , simple things like voiding an item from transaction they don’t know how to do it. I bought some products today , my total for the transaction was little bit higher Compered to the funds I have available in my account . I asked them to viod some items from the transaction but they don’t know how to do the void. Instead of voiding the items they took all the products from me which I paid for and did not refund my money . They took the product back and did not refund my money. I called my credit card company and they told me your transaction amount is deducted from your account but India Bazar people did not return my money or gave me the products which I paid for . Thinks twice before going to this location. I would not advise anyone to do business with them . They are unprofessional and un trained to be a customer service manager . The lady who told me she is manager of the store she knows nothing and very rude. They are there to steel your...

Why are you positioning a guy at the door to check customer’s receipt? There’s is no self check out. This is a fastest way to lose your Desi customers. Yes, we go to SAMs,costco and walmart where they check receipt at the door because they have self checkout. Business is built on trust, my friend. A lot of us come in there with our family and we don’t want to be stopped at the exit door. It’s embarassing because you made us feel like we stole something. On top of it, we don’t have time for this absolute nonsense. We gotta go and we have things to do.
8 years in texas, been visiting this store every once in a while. I don’t think I am coming back anymore unless changes has been made. I suggest you to hire couple more people to check carts via camera from the back end at all time. I bet you can afford that. I repeat, this is a bad customer service, man. Shop lifting is a problem everywhere but this is not how you tackle when it comes to...
