Just visiting family wanted pancakes I got the pancakes with four fried eggs home fries and turkey bacon unfortunately the eggs were fried over medium supposedly where they were supposed to be, and the turkey bacon was pretty much just seared it wasn't even fried it wasn't crispy at all.
The waitress was really really nice She was a really nice person The overall place was atmosphere was cool the people were cool whatever I just found it odd when I sat down the first thing she said to me is that we don't have any booze I laughed about that to myself like but I don't drink any booze, but whatever I don't drink alcohol at all. Just sitting there waiting for my waitress after I finish my food You know two other tables came and sat down and the first thing she didn't say to them was we don't have any booze So I don't know was that a young thing because they were they were much older patrons so I don't know if that was a young thing that's why she said she doesn't have any booze I don't know about that.
In any case the pancakes are really good I asked for toasty she wanted to she wanted to make it right and make the situation better and just wanted to she offered to bring back the eggs but I don't send food back at all, so what she did was ask for some social She bought me so toast she didn't charge me for it, but the eggs are super runney you can look in the picture that I that I left and eggs just super runny like over easy so I think they need a new cook because he doesn't know what you know what seared is or what cooked bacon is and he doesn't know what over medium to over easy eggs are So that's it man but he pancakes were...
Read moreReally disappointing. I ordered a waffle and two sausage patties waffle was $6.50, sausage patties $2.99 add pecans .50. $10.80. I was not expecting a kids portion waffle and too tiny sausage patties they did not even bake in the pecans they were just thrown on top of the waffle. I was kind of hoping this could be my new lunch spot. My server was nice. I saw her twice once to take my order and once to bring me my check. Two stars one for friendly service(waitress) and one because the waffle actually tasted good. The guy taking the money at the register didn't ask me how it was, nothing. I laid my check down and $10 he said do you have the $0.80 and I handed him the $0.80 I was actually expecting him to get off of the phone before he took my money but... nope. EDIT** Trip 2 I really like to give most anywhere a second chance when I have a not so stellar experience. My waitress was friendly. Today I ordered an omelet. Once again portions are small. My hash browns came out uncooked sent them back got them back a few minutes later, they were the only thing I got that was warm, my omelet had unmelted cheese in it! The flavor was good again. So this time at the cash register the lady actually asked me how was it and I told her it was not great she stopped what she was doing and did everything in her power to get me to come back and try again which I will be trying again and told me if I'm ever not happy to come find her and she will make sure that I am taking care of correctly wonderful customer service and for that I'm actually upping my stars on...
Read moreHubs and I arrived about 2:20PM on a Tuesday (the restaurant closes at 3PM Mon-Thu) and were waved to pick any table we liked by our server, Nadia.
We sat down and waited for longer than either of us were happy with for menus and drink orders to be taken, but I guess Nadia looked up from her sidework to see us glancing at our watches and hustled over with an apology, and from that point on was extremely attentive - my husband's drink never ran empty (rare for him) and a diet Dr. Pepper showed up at our table before it was requested. The takeaway here is if you show up after 2, be prepared for the servers to be focused on their closing duties. Pretty typical for serving staff everywhere, and no hard feelings - everyone has more than 1 hat to wear at work, whatever their gig.
The fare is homestyle, done very well, with good variety and came to the table piping hot. The sides (esp. fried okra & pinto beans), yeast rolls and sugar free apple pie were stellar, and sold us on making PJ's our go-to for weekday lunch dates (I work a little farther north off O'Connor). I liked my catfish, but will be opting fot the veggie plate next time - the sides are THAT good.
I'd like to give PJ's 5 stars, but my tummy is reminding me how hangry we got due to the starting delay and won't let me. The place is just the tiniest bit shopworn here & there but that's to be expected at a neighborhood institution. Next time we'll try to get there a little earlier & see if there's an improvement - again, slow start but otherwise...
