We spent a very long time researching our next sofa purchase. After going through 4 sets in 14 years, we were determined to learn just what goes into a long lasting, high quality piece of living room furniture.
For a long lasting sofa/sectional, you should look for: 8 way hand tied springs, kiln dried hardwood frame, and cushions that are both replaceable (not sewn onto the sofa) and refillable (because any cushion material that's comfortable will eventually need to be replaced.) Solid construction is key to a long lasting sofa.
We went to all of the major furniture stores in the area, spoke with countless sales reps, and left each time feeling dissatisfied. Often, a sales rep didn't know their product and couldn't tell me anything about it's inner materials and construction. Reps at PB with 18 years of experience selling their furniture? Couldn't tell me a thing.
Right off the bat, Mitch (owner of Leathers) greeted us and pummeled my senses with his New Yorkers personality. We told him we didn't think leather was our best choice, due to having two cats. He was quite abrasive with his insistance of how wrong we were. My eyebrows raised quite high, I tell you. But he begged me to hear him out, so we did.
What we learned from Mitch was incredible, and he knew exactly what we needed. He was able to show us actual models of the interior construction of his sofas, went over each material and how/why it's chosen, down to the manufacturer and where they source their materials.
He was patient with us as we considered what we wanted, as I was personally quite picky and conflicted on color options.
We eventually landed on a beautiful Campio Legacy Italian leather sectional. Our sectional is stunning and everything we wanted.
Surprisingly, a cats claws don't really puncture thick, high quality leather, and the superficial scratches just rub out! We keep them clipped regularly, of...
Read more5/16/24 We have bought a number of things from Leathers over the years and all have been of excellent quality at a fair price. Corbin, Mitch and others at Leathers have always been helpful, knowledgeable and professional. I did want to advise of a recent interaction we had with them. Almost 10 years ago we bought a "Legacy" Brand Leather Couch. Just before Christmas 2023 one of the three Coil Spring Unit cushions had a total melt down! The cushion was basically unusable and we feared we would need another couch as I was unable to source another properly sized "Marshall Coil Spring Unit". I approached Corbin at Leathers about the issue and he worked with Legacy to supply us a whole new cushion unit at no charge! Incredible as this was considering the age the biggest surprise was after delivery when Corbin advised that Legacy had supplied not just one, but three, all new cushion units (so that all would match after replacement! Absolutely incredible! Thank you Leathers Furniture and...
Read moreWe had a great experience! Gail knew her stuff and was so kind and personable! She took us through the whole process, showing us around the store and explaining everything we needed. She made sure we understood what leather would work best with our couch and really did a good job of explaining why quality matters. She was able to answer all our questions very knowledgeably.
The store had a good selection of furniture and was willing to let you basically order a couch to your specifications if you're willing to wait for it to be made. Which is typically a 3 month wait. The prices were reasonable and the furniture was high quality.
However, we only heard about it through word of mouth and had trouble finding it at first because our GPS sent us to an old location. So, make sure you go to the address that says it is on E Lake Sammamish. If you only go with the furniture stores you get on searching using a browser, you probably won't see this one. Which is sad, because it is...
