I'll be honest: I'd rather go to the dentist than have my photo professionally taken.
That said, sometimes we don't have a choice and must get that professional headshot [for work or maybe your Tinder profile or whatever]. I was in that predicament - needing a headshot for work purposes, that is, and not to snag a date. So I turned to Studio B Portraits.
Studio B is in the historic district of Issaquah, right along Front Street. There's plenty of free curbside parking nearby, or at least there was at the time of my appointment. Besides the photo shoot itself, I upgraded to the Men's Essentials package, which included some concealer around the eyes to soften lines and reduce shine. You also get your hair styled but don't expect salon-quality service. Sadly, no plastic surgery either, dashing my hopes for a portrait to rival Timothée Chalamet's.
My photographer really helped put me at ease through the whole process. She instructed me how to pose, kept things easy and light-hearted. Ok, I even admit I enjoyed the whole process a little.
Two business days after, you get a link to your private gallery where you can whittle your choices down from several untouched shots to one that they'll put through the finishing process by editing out blemishes, unwanted shadows, etc. Again, they can only go so far before your headshot crosses the line between fair representation of yourself to a serious catfish situation.
All in all... Definitely recommend Studio B Portraits and worth the drive...
Read moreI recently got corporate headshots taken at Studio B and I could not have been more pleased with the experience! Right from the start when I talked to them on the phone, they were helpful and professional, answering all of my questions and offering help with wardrobe styling if I wanted it. I worked with Makayla, who was so fun and awesome! She started by asking me what I wanted out of my photos and several other questions to help her understand what I was looking for.
Normally I hate getting my pictures taken, and I usually don't like the ay my pictures come out. (That's part of the reason I got the pictures taken - I'm always being asked for head shots, and I only have one I like!) Makayla made it such an enjoyable experience! We did some outside shots and some in the studio, and overall I had a really nice time taking pictures.
I got back my gallery just a few days later, and I was blown away by the photos. I liked all of them - there was not a single one I hated, and I had such a hard time choosing my top ones that I wanted to order!
I HIGHLY, highly recommend going with Studio B for your photo shoot! All of the people in the office are so friendly and nice, and you'll get...
Read moreWhether it be head-shots or photos representing your brand, it is so important that your true self is captured on camera. However, if you're anything like me and millions of others, being in front of a camera makes you want to curl up into a ball and forget that you ever tried. NOT WITH BROOKE! As soon as I arrived in the studio, her team welcomed me with the warmest of smiles and got me set up in my own little green room (I felt like a celebrity!) Stepping on "set" definitely gave me a wave of nerves and jitters, but as Brooke put on the music and started directing me, I immediately felt comfort setting in. As we were shooting she was asking questions about me and getting to know who I was. As she was doing this, she was able to capture my true self. The funny facial expressions, the genuine smiles, and of course the belly laughs. Brooke makes you feel like you've been friends forever all while maintaining a very professional edge. In Brooke's hands I felt beautiful, empowered, and wholeheartedly myself. I would shoot with her over and over...
