Jacksonville could use a good steakhouse. This isnāt it.
This really isnāt a steakhouse - they only have three types of steak (unless you count the āpork ribeyeā - is that even a thing?) and even those are not very impressive. Itās more like a down-market Applebeeās. The building resembles a poorly-remodeled fast food joint (because it is) with a bare concrete floor and harsh lighting, and the food quality ranges from depressingly ordinary to inedible. I ordered the beef tips, with savory rice and green beans. The meat tasted like chewy cardboard and liver, the green beans were soggy, colorless, and appeared to have been put through a deflavorizer, and the savory rice was obviously from a pre-made packet you might buy in a supermarket (Iād say Uncle Benās, but I suspect they went for the much cheaper store brand). Luckily the gravy wasnāt from a packet: it tasted more like the stuff that comes in a jar. My companion ordered a steak, which she said was just okay but way too thin. Nobody walks into a steakhouse looking for ājust okayā steak. The accompanying fries were well below average.
This place is charging steakhouse prices for what basically is badly-made, flavorless home cooking. We could have spent way less at KT Pho, for example, and would have enjoyed way better food.
So if youāre the kind of guy who buys his groceries at a gas station youāll love this place; however, if youāre looking for an actual steakhouse serving good (or even just edible) food,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been waiting to eat spicy feta dip again for so long (these folks used to own Palermo's in Gadsden) and finally got to get some! It's still just as good. Spicy Feta Dip could be my sole reason for stopping here.
We did order lunch and since none of us had eaten out much my family kinda went crazy ordering and trying things. Everything was so good!
I got the beef tips which is served over rice. They were excellent and the rice was also well seasoned and tasted fresh (I hate dry rice!). I got a side of broccoli and it was beautifully steamed and vibrant green. All of this heated up really well the next day, too.
I tried the fried pickles and they were tasty. They aren't cut into chips, but instead almost the size of a French fry. They weren't too greasy or soggy like chips can get, either. I tried my sister's Mac & cheese and it was really good! It's not baked but the sauce is creamy & cheesy. Everything was seasoned well.
I'm not a local but I would 100% eat here again the next time we meet up with family from Oxford. I'm excited to try their pasta because it was always so good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is HORRIBLE!! The manager is very unprofessional and rude. Was in there today and ordered ribeye steaks. The steaks were so tough that my husband and I could not chew it. We told our waitress. Her reply was to try cutting it in the middle to see if we can eat the middle. Still tough. Manager came over since we said we would pay for our salads but wouldnāt not pay for the steaks we could not even eat. He yelled and said he couldnāt do this and threatened to call the cops. I could see if we ate the steaks and then tried to get not pay, but we couldnāt even eat it. So I told him fine call the cops. At this point everyone in the place was staring at us and his rudeness. He finally asked canāt I just make you new ones. We said fine but make them to go, we no longer want to stay here. We paid our bill and left. Get home and still canāt eat them. I will tell everyone I know to not eat here. If you are looking for a decent place to eat this is not it! Bad business. You do not treat customers like this. Especially...
