Went to this location to trade in my Xbox One S for a new Series S. The lady behind the counter told me she couldnāt take it for trade because I factory reset it and therefor was āsuspiciousā. I explained that the reason I factory reset the device was because I had several different profiles on it for myself and friends and each profile contained sensitive information such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and not to mention credit card or PayPal information. The lady told me I had to take the device home, put my account on the device, and then bring it back. I live over 20 minutes away and this is the nearest location to me. She said she didnāt make the rules.
So I go back home, hook the system back up, sign into my account, but I put a pin on it this time so that once itās traded in Iāll know my information is secure. I travel back to the GameStop. Thereās a different person behind the counter this time. A man. This guy proceeds to act completely unprofessionally. He is cursing up a storm and Iām standing there with my 5 year old daughter. Then he taunts her about wanting a big oversized eevee plushie which causes her to get upset so I had her mother take her out of the store. The guy turns on my Xbox and then I sign into my account. He proceeds to tell me that he cannot take the console unless I give him the pin to my Microsoft account. There is an option to bypass signing into an account, and my personal password/pin is no necessary to factory reset the device. I asked him to be 1000% clear that I had to provide GameStop the credentials to my personal Microsoft account with access to my credit cards, PayPal, and sensitive information or they would not let me trade in my console. His response was that āthose are the rulesā and that if I was āuncomfortableā I was free to leave.
This is absolutely unacceptable. I have traded in a treasure trove of consoles over the years at GameStop and have never been treated like a thief like this, or been told Iāve gotta fork over keys to any theoretical castle. Im going to Best Buy tomorrow to make the trade and purchase the new console. They are offering 20$ LESS than what Gameslop is, but after having a large portion of my time wasted and being insanely disrespected I donāt think I could ever go back. I mostly purchase digitally now a days. This was the nail in the coffin for me. Company is out of its...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReason why GameStop is falling............ Bad store...... Bad service. Employees are negotiating their own prices and policies on returns or trade ins........ Saw an item tag on shelf....... Steering wheel.............. Informed the employee that I wanted to buy..... And she said it wasn't actually in the store........ Even tho it was hanging there....... $200 lost because your employee......... She was sitting eating sandwich as she said it and didn't even go to back and look......... On another occasion I brought a psvr aim in for trade..... Due to low usage....... And the employee said we aren't taking them because they don't sale.......... I came back two days later and sold it to another store in regency........ (?)........ These ppl are basing their answers to customers on their own ideas and practices.......... I went to trade MK11...... And the guy said there was scratches around center of disk that could prevent dow load speeds........ He didn't check to see if that was true......I didn't see scratches.... Cause I didn't play game but maybe twice...... But again...... No argument....... Just left...... This is a company I will not feel bad for in the future.....whatever happens....... If you don't like providing your own services...... Then why start...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe associate Jeannette was incredibly rude and non engaging. She didn't smile once or welcome to the store or back to the store. She sold me a "brand new" game that was not so brand new. When I got back to the car I took a look in the bag to be sure my used game that I also bought was in the case. Believe it or not I've actually had it not be there when I got home before. Anyway, not only was there no plastic on the game but the disk bad fingerprints on it and the case is broken and has the entire corner missing. Not pleased to say the least.
Then when I go back in there I spoke with a guy who's attitude was no better. He said it was brand new and when I asked why it was opened and had prints all over it he's like, "oh new just means it hasn't been played".. lol to me new means NOT TOUCHED! It had prints on it meaning it was removed from the case at some point. Why if it's brand new? Then of course it was the last copy left. Had I not used my card I would have returned it but didn't feel like waiting 3-5 days to get my money back...especially with it being Thanksgiving. Will not return to this...
