What a cute place! Very clean, Very fresh foods. Drinks: We loved the Horchata and margaritas! Appetizers: Chips were warm and had a great flavor. Salsa was fresh and had a delightful kick to it. Dinner: Shredded beef chimichangas with white cheese sauce (instead of red onion sauce). Husband got the full plate... which turns out to be bigger than he could finish. But the flavor was great, and he's a chimichanga connoisseur. As a vegetarian, I look for all the options available on a menu. This restaurant didn't have a specific vegetarian section, but many items could be made without meat. Unfortunately, they do not discount for "no meat" options. I had the Nachos Supreme without meat (again... they didnt discount for no meat). But it was a huge plate, and all the ingredients were delicious so worth it. I poured the salsa over to add some spice. I also tried the mushroom quesadilla, which had great flavor with semi-crispy shell, fresh sauteed mushrooms, and creamy cheese inside. Bathrooms were very clean! Fun music and soft lighting ambiance. Very friendly staff who were attentive to our drink refills. Overall, this is a 5 star restaurant and well worth visiting multiple times.

I recently visited El Potro Mexican Restaurant with high hopes after reading several glowing reviews. Unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to the hype. First and foremost, the food felt extremely generic and lacked the authentic flavors typically associated with Mexican cuisine. It seemed like the dishes were tailored more for a mainstream palate. The menu played it very safe, sticking to the most basic of options without venturing into more traditional or regional Mexican dishes. Even staple items like tacos and carnitas seemed watered down, missing the vibrant colors and rich taste profiles you expect from a genuine Mexican meal. On the brighter side, the ambiance was pleasant and the staff were friendly and attentive. However, when it comes to the most crucial aspect—the food—El Potro falls short. It feels like "Mexican food for White people," lacking the boldness and authenticity that makes Mexican cuisine so beloved. If you're looking for a safe, generic meal that doesn't push any boundaries, you might still enjoy El Potro. But if you’re craving an authentic Mexican food experience, you might want to look elsewhere.

Ordered the Burrito de Potro and a spinach quesadilla (not pictured.) The burrito is massive at nearly a foot long and probably a good 4 inches in girth. Taste amazing. It is expensive but easily two meals at the cost of two meals. Unfortunately the spinach quesadilla was terrible and should probably be removed from the menu. It’s clearly canned spinach that’s covered in their queso sauce. I could get over that since it was only $4 but they didn’t drain the juices at all so it’s sopping wet and quickly became just a wet falling apart tortilla green water cheese mess. A redeeming fact is that the horchata is actually excellent and the staff was very attentive and nice.

Very disappointed, the food on the buffet is excellent, but the several times I've gone it has gotten worse and worse. First time I went was during the afternoon with my two little ones 3 and then 5 months. It was ok and they didn't charge me for my 3 yr old only the drink, my server was excellent. Next I went with all four of my kids which are then 11 and 9 an the little ones which was also ok and the charged my kids as kids and not adults. So the next time we went it was about 45- 30 minutes till closing and they stated that if we sat at the buffet which they were closing that side that they would not put anymore food. So we ordered and the red sauce they put on the burrito was awful like straight out of a can and tasted like thick spaghetti sauce or tomato paste. Even after that I went again just cause the food on the buffet line is good. but lo and behold I could not believe it a hair in my food. The waiter waited on us well but when I showed him the hair he stated that the cooks wear hats and have their hair tied. He said sorry but all the while smiling like it was funny. I even asked him if he was insinuating that I had done it. When I went to pay a lady told him that she would charge me the bill came out to $36 and some change. I couldn't believe it I asked her if she had taken anything off for the hair and she just told m that is the risk you take when eating a buffet. I was so angry that I didn't look at the receipt and just paid. When I made the calculations they charged my 12 and 9 year olds as adult. much disappointment with the service and for this reason a customer that would have been loyal and came back in future will not be visiting El...

My husband and I went here for the first time yesterday and WOW the food was amazing, I finished everything!! This place is two minutes away from where we live and it feels like we struck gold with this place. If you're looking for true authentic food made with LOVE that you can taste this place is it! I walked into the resturant and was greeted by the employees, immediately I felt welcomed. I believe I met the owner and his wife. Both extremely sweet and the wife (I did not get the name of her) was so sweet, I explained to her that we were a first time customer and was excited to try the food. She explained to me that they have been here for 25 YEARS!! She also told us to come and dine in sometime the experience would be different.(we were picking up due to us being tired and also in our PJS picking up our food Haha.) We got home and ate EVERYTHING, it was still hot, & freshly made. Thank you El Potro for the fantastic meal, like I mentioned before you can taste the love in the dish, you can taste the effort that was made to perfect the dish. Everything was perfect, they added LOTS of meat in every meal I ordered. Truly perfect. My husband and I ordered the nachos, enchiladas, chicken and cheese quesadilla, carne asada, churros, and a dessert enchilada. I know, A LOT of food. We ate every single bite. Sorry for the long review but I just really want to show my appreciation to the company and spread the word...
