Waffle House — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Had to come to the Normandy location because Commonwealth was pitiful The scene upon walking in notice there were two parties waiting before us two females and a police officer and then our party of six there were absolutely no clean spots at the bar to set every table in the place was dirty nobody had any interest and cleaning them did not get greeted did not get seated there was a guy at the register trying to pay his bill and I thought the girl was taking his money and cashing him out only she was texting the customer try to hand her his ticket and she said I'm almost done 4 more minutes went by and he said please can I just pay my bill and leave she said hold on just a sec almost done 3 more minutes went by she finally took his money after he laid his ticket down set time you and whoever you're texting can pay the bill I'm not waiting no more everybody was real careful not to make any kind of eye contact with us because I think they knew we were going to ask 4 clean tables so I asked the cook do y'all have any waitresses that are working not these but any that are actually working tonight he's like I wish but yes there's two here I looked over there cuz I seen one look at me out my peripheral she snapped her head away quick so we waited and waited 15 minutes and register girl still texting other girls busy doing nothing walking back and forth looking at the ground careful not to make eye contact there was only one couple in their being served and they could not even get the to-go boxes they were asking for 10 more minutes will buy for a total of 25 minutes the guy who stood behind the other guy waiting to pay also was made to wait till she finish that text and I said is there anybody going to bust these tables nobody looked at me nobody answered me they was done working for tonight because all the dirty tables had food that's been sitting out there for a while but the Normandy location was awesome got greeted seated ordered and served in less than 20 minutes with excellent attitudes big smiles and great behaviors awesome place to eat awesome avoid Commonwealth like the Black Plague especially if you're white I don't know I don't think that matter tonight they don't want to help nobody therefore...

Me and my partner dined here on 12/31/21 and I initially wasn't going to make the review, because I don't want to give a business a hard time especially while a pandemic is happening, but I feel I should.

When we came in, the place felt very hostile as employees were loudly arguing among each other making people from other tables as well as the table me and my partner were sitting at look up not once, but multiple times; it got to a point where they were sounding really heated with each other before a man in a grey shirt (who I assume is the manager) very minimally told them to break it up. Our waiter, Kari, who had just punched into work not even 20 minutes ago according to her, was very dismissive of us, we didn't even know her name until I went looking for it.

She was a rather confrontative when approaching our table, forgot some parts of our orders after rudely asking us what we wanted, walked off in a sulking fashion, and shoved our plates of food onto the table. Also, when I requested "Apple Juice" Kari brought me 2 apple juice boxes then walked off without asking me if I wanted to change my drink and charged me full price for it, too.

To top it off, when we left her a tip, as we were walking out she was badmouthing us to her coworkers, whether it was us or the small tip for the poor service she gave us, but we know it was about us.

You've made absolutely sure that we will not be coming back here.

Unfortunately I'm having to leave a bad review. I normally get great service at waffle house. I come here 4-5 times a week and I always tip over 20%.

But tonight 1/2/2020 I had to ask for a Blueberry Waffle over 3 times and I was continually ignored. And to top it off it was not busy so the customer service should have been on point, it was not. I am very disappointed.

The phone rang and they ignored customer phone calls as well. There qas myself and 1 other customer at this location when this happened. I gave them the opportunity to make it right and they discounted my bill. I however still left a tip but again did not get my waffle. I love blueberry waffles and I look forward to eating it on a regular basis. It's one of the ways I treat myself throughout the week. I never leave bad reviews because I've been in management and customer service all my life and I understand what people go through. But this experience tonight left such a bad taste in my mouth. Please re-train your employees and please make sure they stock the bathrooms with paper towels, that was empty as well.
