My 1st visit was a consultation. I came w/ pic ideas 4 cut & color styles. The 2nd visit I went from blonde to black. 2 weeks later (3rd visit) from blonde to multiple colors. The blonde was great. The cut my stylist barely got away with. It was on the fine line of âlooks good, but any more cutting & it would be messed up.â This was confirmed by the stylistâs statement, âMaybe I should stop cutting.â I felt like she was not confident in cutting my curly hair. The colors were nice, but there was no creativity in the way it was done. A.K.A I could have duplicated the same results at home. To pay that kind of $$$ & not have the wow factor is disappointing. But none the less it sufficed & was doable. This was all Oct â18. So letâs talk about my 4th visit, now Feb â19. So the color is faded & I came in wanting to go back to blonde. No cutting was done because we agreed that I had a perfect cut (cuz I chose to have someone else elsewhere cut my hair). So I noticed that this time the bleaching dye was left in my hair longer this time. After questioning this it was cuz the faded green was being stubborn & not wanting to come out. Finally I go to the washing sink where she does her routine. She sits me up at the sink & after examining my head attempts to cut behind my right ear. So when I get back to the chair I discovered why: my hair roots were black meaning that the bleaching solution was never applied to the area. She tried to claim that it was a stubborn spot where the black wouldnât go out, but we all know that if it was black & not a variation of it that means that that spot was missed during application. So instead of her going back & applying the bleach to make it blonde like the rest of my head, she attempted to cut it out in attempts to hide it. I had the same issue on the other side but it wasnât as prevalent as the left, so I had her dye that also. But there was yet another problem! There was still green in my hair! My stylist was like, âOh itâs not noticeable.â I was like, âYes it is & I canât walk out of here with bleach blonde hair with green in my hair!â She said she could dye it a darker blonde in hopes of blending the green with the darker blonde or cut it. Well dying wasnât an option because that would leave my hair over processed. Plus I donât think that green would blend with any blonde like that. Plus it was only the about a half an inch of green at my tips so I decided for a cut, but instead of cutting the whole head which would of solved the problem she picked up snippets & just cut which through my now perfect cut into a mess. We were even in the bathroom with her cutting to fix the green. It was obvious that the more she did the more of a mess was created. So I left & attempted to go to a lady at a different salon who I had cutting my hair outside of hair peace. But she was closed. Luckily for me there was a barber shop next door. So I went in & explained the situation. Not that I had to cuz when I walked into their barber shop the brothas in there started laughing saying I looked like Goku super saiyan off of Dragon Ball Z. Now you know us ladies can be judgemental when it comes to each otherâs hair but when you get joked & laughed at by a barber shop full of brothas that is a whole new level of low! So last Wednesday I get a text on my phone for a review, which I completed. Afterward I call the shop & make some inquiries about who sees the reviews at which I was asked if there was a problem. I stated there was & explained what you are now reading in this review. She (I believe I spoke with someone named Jessica an Esthetician) noted everything & explained that the owner would call. So the owner had from the rest of Wednesday to 2pm now on Monday to call me. Nothing. I held of on reviewing up until this point for 2 reasons: I tried to give my stylist Melody another chance cuz maybe she was having an off day. Thatâs the kind of person I try to be. We are human right? Also to give the owner a chance. I wonât b back. Nothing against melody sheâs a sweetheart, but she wonât be...
Read moreI recently had a Devacut at this salon. The only reason why I have to give this 3 stars instead of 5 is because I felt that there wasnât a thorough consultation for me being a first time client. I wont mention what stylist I was booked with because the person was really nice but I wasnât asked about how I traditionally wear my hair, what products I use to style, etc prior to my hair being cut. We spoke for maybe a few minutes and we immediately went into the cut and discussed those things as they were cutting my hair. Iâve had numerous Devacuts in the past with very extensive consultations. I know what to expect from a Devacut but I wish I was asked more questions during my consultation. I part my hair all ways but when I walked in my hair was in a right part. During our consultation we discussed cutting some face framing pieces. My hair was cut with some fringe in a right part and it gave my hair more volume but it really restricts how I style my hair day to day. This is difficult for someone like me who will flip my hair throughout the day and change my style. Now there is 2 or 3 random pieces of hair on the other side that are face framing but overall together I donât love it. its not even in the front. If I was asked how I normally part my hair I would have said that I typically part it all ways so that the fringe that was cut could easily be parted any way I choose. I am trying to part my hair to the middle or to the left after this cut and it looks terrible. The stylist was super nice and friendly. I loved the shape the overall cut gave me and I love the layers that were created. Anyone who has had a Devacut knows your hair is typically weighed down when you have it done in the salon because of the amount of water and product they use when styling. The shorter pieces seemed okay when I got home because my hair was weighed down but when I washed my hair and did my typical routine I noticed how my front curls laid and I am not particularly happy with this. Now I cannot part my hair any other way which is extremely frustrating. I would just suggest the stylists try to ask all they can about how curly clients style their hair. Again....I am torn with this because I had an overall great experience in the salon but because my hair is much shorter now I am not willing to cut more hair to fix this. Unfortunately, I have to let this grow out. I might return to the salon for color services but I donât know that Iâll be back for...
Read moreI met with a stylist and explained that I hadn't had a professional cut in several years, that I've been flat-ironing my hair for decades and I'm happy with it, but it is very frazzled, needs some fresh ends and in the humid summer months, the curls are out of control so I really needed a style that would work both straight and curly.
My stylist was so understanding and confident at the consultation, I left really feeling that we were on the same page.
At the appointment a week later, it kind of felt we were starting over, meeting for the first time. I reiterated I needed a style I could wear both straight or curly, but suddenly she was doubting her plan, said she'd hate to charge so much for a "Custom Curly Cut" and end up giving me something I wouldn't like when straight. She then decided I was going to leave that day with my hair styled for curly.
She did a little snipping in the back and spent 20 minutes squishing leave-in products in my hair, sat me under the dryer, then fluffed me up. She said I should live with it curly for at least 4 days, which I did, and then I washed and blow dried my hair, which is when I was able to see what was done. I realized she actually did no styling whatsoever, just took 3" off straight across the back (when I repeatedly said I don't want straight across), which when dried and flat-ironed is just long enough to make my hair flip up at my shoulders like Mary Tyler Moore, and didn't touch the sides at all, so they're still raggedy with years of split-ends.
The "Custom Curly Cut" was $92 but I had a $20 off coupon, and I also bought $62 in product, then I tipped her an additional $20.
I didn't see the itemized receipt via email til I'd left and then I noticed I was also charged $18 for the product she used during styling. đđ I've never heard of a salon doing that.
Almost everyone was very nice, the salon was immaculate and comfortable. Unfortunately I don't feel what I had done justified $110 for...
