Barrs Street Eats — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Love Barrs Street Eats!!!! Great breakfasts with generous portions and fair prices. They don’t over-salt the food which is great. The ingredients are fresh so why ruin them with too much salt? If you need it add it to your own meal. I don’t understand how anyone could complain about Barrs St. If you love rye bread this is the place. It is swirl rye (light and dark) and it’s thick. When they toast it its crispy. They toast the rolls and the biscuits on the grill for the sandwiches. They definitely know how to get the most flavor into your meal. The fruit salad is all fresh seasonal fruit. Love the potato salad. It’s different than traditional .. more gourmet. The fish sandwich is so good and it is gigantic. It’s cut in half. The two pieces fill up the entire styrofoam container.. huge. I just moved to Riverside in March and this is my go to. Fast processed food meals can’t compare and you end up spending the same or more for fast food chain food. I’m slowly trying different items but I can’t get away from the breakfasts, regardless of the time of the day. To reiterate, the prices are fair, the portions generous and so far I’m not disappointed. One time they forgot my grits and gave them to me the next time I ordered. I’ve never been in the restaurant. Came here after work for a quick lunch. Husband got a burger and I got a scrambler bowl. Scrambler bowl was comforting and filling. Husband saw me eyeing his burger and gave me a few bites (or four). Burger was seasoned perfectly, and it wasn’t dry. Produce was crisp and fresh. Burger sauce pushed it over the edge. I was surprised they had such a good burger, as I’ve never heard anyone talk about them. I hear a lot of buzz for their neighbor, and that burger is just alright. I think the next time I’m craving one I’ll come back here instead. Absolutely cannot beat the price for it, either. Decently sized burger for 9 bucks (with fries!) The person taking our order was really friendly, and after our meal the owner/chef asked how we liked it. We discovered they had a menu of specials for the whole month and took one of those home. We live right around the corner so we’ll definitely be back.

They have a very rude employee at the counter. They have a sign that says restrooms for customers only and I needed to use it so I was planning to buy a drink or snack after I went but she was rude as soon as I walked in. She greeted me with "our menus are over here!!" In a rude tone and I replied" I just need to use the restroom quickly first" well it was locked I'm assuming someone was in there. Some since I didnt use it I didnt buy anything and as I was leaving she said "thanks for using our bathroom.." and I kindly replied that someone was in there so I didnt use it.. just trying to reasure her that all is utopia still for them.
