Japanese Permanent Straightening 20 yrs by Kuan — Local services in Jacksonville

RUN!!!!!!!! My hair was destroyed by Kuan. Learn from my heart break and go to a professional for your straight perm.

(I made this post after my appointment with Kuan but somehow 🙄 Google put it under review, so I am reposting it. And adding texts of her telling the price is 265 then after calling me a liar and making up lies that my hair was wiry and fried at the top before my appointment which you can clearly see is false from my pictures)

I went in for a touch up on my Japanese straight perm I got in Japan, and her treatment absolutely fried the top of my hair. I can only assume the product was left in too long with her multiple breaks she took while the solution sat in my hair!! (idk what she did outside but every time she left me it was for a long time and she came back smelling bad like smoke) she even left me once for what seemed to be about 25 minutes and got food then brought to to the back to eat it I guess since she was there for maybe another 10 more minutes. Of course I am not a professional and don’t claim to be so I didn’t know what she was doing was frying my hair minute by minute.

I realized how bad it was when I got home and got a good look in the mirror. When I asked her for help because after what she did, my hair looked and felt like straw at the top, she called me a liar and said that my hair felt and looked like that when I came in. Yes I had breakage at the bottom (but it didn’t feel dry) but that can be cut, the damage she did to my hair is at the top, the entire crown of my head and front sides of my hair. (Even if my hair was too damaged for this treatment, isn’t part of what a professional does is assess the hair and decide what is good and what’s not for the hair? I made the mistake of trusting that she would make the judgments of a professional) Then she even tried to scare me into giving her money saying she had to use product on my hair (which she put in without asking and I bet she put it in there because she saw herself what she did to my hair and she tried to fix her mistake but it didn’t work). And she said the damage was from my first perm but that’s a lie as you can see from my profile picture, it was taken 2 months after my straight perm in Japan (as you can see I was still in Asia, visiting Busan Korea before coming back to the states)

I am so depressed. I’ve been crying for days, there’s nothing I can do to hide the hair. (3 months later and still every single time I see my hair and feel it, it hurts my heart, literally hurts my chest) Also my scalp is hurting and tender from her not only chemically burning my hair, but also my scalp. I want my money back. I have had to spend so much already on products to try and correct what she did to me.

My first time getting permanent straight hair EVER, I was scared of what to expect but the results are AMAZING!

First of all my hair is long, course, and damaged from heat so Kuan gave me hair treatment before the hair straightening. She also gave me a haircut because I had dead ends and uneven bangs (from me cutting my own hair 😝). While treating my hair she also gave me helpful tips on how to take care of my hair type, what products to use, and where she gets them. She’s very experienced and thorough with the process, she actually looks at my hair and lets me know what she sees, like dandruff, breakage, uneven sides, etc and what might have caused them.

The process took us 6 hours so she played a movie for me on her phone and offered food and drinks. ☺️ After we’re done she tells me what I should do next to keep my hair healthy so I can get the type of haircut I want next time (I cut my hair too thin so I couldn't get the type of layers I wanted), and she let me take home some spray treatment with hair care directions.

It cost me $450, and not including tip, but next time it won’t be so much since my hair will be healthier/faster to apply, and I probably won’t need one again until after 6-8 months. Plus she gave me valuable tips, products for home, a free haircut, shampoo and conditioner treatment, and the full 6 hours of her time on a Sunday night. 🥰

After the 3 days of NO WETTING HAIR, NO SWEATING, NO SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER, NO PRODUCTS, and sleeping with my hair FLAT, I finally washed my hair as usual for that first time and blow dried on the lowest setting like I was told to and my hair ended up SILKY AND STRAIGHT!!!

Let me tell you, I have had many permanent straightening services in the past in a big city north of here. I can vouche to say this place is the best! 100% dedicated to making sure you are happy with your hair. The product is amazing and Kuan makes sure to provide you with tips to keep your hair looking great after you leave. If anyone is dealing with "big" hair, thick and curly always not sure what to do with it and never thinks you can have silky, smooth hair you can run a brush through and walk out the door, well....look no further. It doesn't cost a fortune! Look at the photos! They don't lie. As long as I live here in Jacksonville, I am a lifelong customer. Kuan even has clients come into town just to do their hair. She transformed my hair into something I love. If you are having any reservations, try it once. You won't be disappointed.

Update on my hair since I had it straightened 2 months ago. Still straight. You have to make sure you use the proper shampoo and conditioner and to not color your hair out of a box. This is a chemical process and you have to make sure whatever you put on your hair is not going to ruin your investment. After my first wash, Kuan asked how my hair was. I have a section that is extremely wavy in the back center and actually had to go back and she redid that one section for free. This is how thorough she is. Came out perfect in the end. Kuan...
