This business was very disrespectful and disorganized in our interactions with them. They advertise alternations as a service they provide. We took a pair of dress pants and a shirt to them for alterations. The female who waited on us measured my boyfriend for alterations on the pants, the waist, legs and hem and said they could also put a button hole In the shirt sleeve to turn it into a French cuff to wear cuff links with it. She said it would be a week to 10 days and would cost approximately $109. They would call when it was ready. During this visit, an older male who is also an employee was interrupting asking if my boyfriend is sold on those pants because alterations are going to cost more than what he paid for the pants. We felt insulted like the clothes we purchased elsewhere were junk. We were not given anything in writing for estimated charges for work to be done or charges at this visit. When we didn’t hear anything for over two weeks, I called the store and was told the work was completed and they called me on May 1st but I had not received or missed calls or voicemails from j roberts on May 1st. When we went to the store to pick up our order, Kristen waited on us primarily but again the older male worker was interrupting our conversation. My boyfriend tried the pants on and the alterations were good but no button holes were put in the shirt sleeves to transition them into French cuffs and the clothes weren’t pressed or steamed for wrinkles. They did remove the wrinkles and put a crease in the pants before we left the store. Kristen said the seamstress said they weren’t able to put the button holes in the shirt. I’m really not sure what the reason was because Kristen said that’s what they do with their rental shirts. The male worker said he has a French cuff cut away collar shirt at his elkhorn store for $55 that he could have to the Janesville store by Saturday. I told them it’s frustrating that the worker didn’t tell us the cuffs couldn’t be done when we brought the clothes in but rather said it’s not a problem. And the solution they offer is to buy one their shirts. So with this statement and what was said about the pants on our first visit, I told the male worker it seems like he wants us to spend more $. Kristen in the meantime is giving me her card and the name of a seamstress in janesville who she’s sure could do the button holes for $15. So Kristen gave us our total of around $116. I said why is it so much when the woman who waited on us when we dropped it off said $109 and that included the shirt button holes. The male worker again got involved saying he was standing right there when we brought them in and we weren’t told $109, pretty much calling me a liar. Kristen refigured the amount not including the button holes. It was less than our original quote and we paid it. The older worker is telling us to take our clothes and leave the store. Kristen said she will be working alone Monday between 5-7 if we want to come purchase the French cuff shirt then. I could call before we come. I call on Monday at 5. I was told Kristen wasn’t there that day. She will be in Tuesday from 10-6. The person that answered the phone was the older male worker who we alreAdy had two negative interactions with. I told him we were planning to come get the shirt between 5-7 with Kristen and when he wasn’t there due to the previous interactions with him. He said he showed the video of our being in the shop to some other people and he thinks it’s best if we look for a shirt someplace else. This business is very disorganized. The workers don’t have the same information about services, charges etc. Kristen was trying to be helpful but the older male worker kept interfering to make suggestions or comments that were insulting and turned the interaction and experience very negative, frustrating and stressful. Read moreOverall, I and my groomsmen had a great experience at J. Robert's Menswear in Janesville. I have had some bad experiences with Men's Wearhouse with awful suit measurements and poor customer service so I decided to make the trip to Janesville from Madison to try something different. All of the measurements and suits came out PERFECT which attests to the level of detail, time, and attention they put into accurately measuring each individual. There was one issue with a pair of rental shoes being the wrong color, but they had a fix for it immediately. A huge shoutout goes to Brad for being flexible and extra helpful every time I came in or called with questions. One area of improvement that I could offer is having a more thorough and accurate record keeping process as most things (measurements, orders, customer questions, etc.) seemed to be done on paper. This isn't terrible, but there were some redundancies of employees calling with questions that I had already answered. Overall, I highly recommend J. Robert's Menswear for those looking for a different and more professional experience than what is offered at Men's...
Read moreCame in because I was out of suits. The expensive ones from mens wear house lasted a year The stretchy ones from kohls lasted longer, but not long enough. Tried out this place on a whim (or maybe because my wife said to). Got a quality suit and shirt for a very reasonable price. The pants off the shelf were too big so I asked if they could take them in. Less than a week later the pants are in. I go to pick them up, they givee the pants and tell me to have a nice day. I say "but I haven't paid for them yet" "Yeah, but you bought them here" "What??" "Tailoring is included when you buy a suit."
Why did I waste so much time getting the elastic suit pants at Kohl's when I could just get a great suit at a great price...and I didnt have to wait for a gimmicky pretend sale. 10/10...
