I am a ten year + member of Planet Fitness in Janesville Wisconsin. I have been a classic member for this time period at $10 a month / $39.00 a year annual membership until someone at the Janesville facility decided to upgrade my membership to the Black Card without my consent or my authorization. ( I never had the black card and never wished to for the whole ten years) And I was also at work when this took place! An email was sent to me on June 12th which I did not see until June 14th. and a pdf was sent as well with a copy of a contract that I had never seen before nor authorized and it was not e-signed by me or PF. ( Plus I was working when this would have taken place according to the time) I have been trying to get this matter corrected for over 3weeks and have been blown off by at least 5 people/ 2 who are in management and a regional manager as well. I do believe this is a fraudulent act to switch me to their black card without my presence or authorization raising my charge monthly and annually without my consent and immediately helping themselves to my bank account. All I have asked is for them to take ownership and just put me back to my original plan that I have had for the last 10 years. They are making sure I don't get to speak directly with a regional manager and when I try to speak with their managers in house they tell me they have no authority in the matter. Now I recently spoke with an in house manager today 6/27/25. When I asked her why the regional manager will not call me and discuss the matter she said he tried and got no answers. I sent him an e-mail days ago that he still has not responded to. They said, well he is doing a lot of training right now and probably hasn't seen it. Then I asked her why he didn't leave me a message and a number to call him back if he indeed ever called me? She said he doesn't have the authority to leave messages? (But he's a regional manager? ) She ( The in house manager ) said they froze my account for the monthly fee until August, but they plan to charge me for the upgraded annual fee on July 1st. Again dipping into my account for a membership I did not consent to or authorize! When I told her I have no issues with who or how it happened I just wanted them to make it right! She told me that even if they can put me back to a reasonable membership I can't go back to the one I had because back in January they changed their rules that if for some reason there is a a error on any account NO MATTER WHOSE FAULT you will automatically be subject to whatever their current plans are. Even if someone hacks the account online! ( What kind of member service is that? Especially to a long term member) Again I have been trying to get this matter settled for over 3weeks! All I ask is my account be put back to what it was before this took place and they refund the $15.00 overcharge that was illegally taken from my account and that they do it before July 1st when they plan to take out a $49.00 Membership Fee that I didn't authorize! I'm not looking to get anyone in trouble, I just want them to make it right and move on from this. Now it has become the principal of the matter and no one deserves to be treated this way! The more times they get away with this fraud the worse it will become! And now today I find out the regional manager is telling his coworkers that he called me on Friday 6/27 and spoke with me at 9:00 am ( And I was working at that time which is impossible ) and I got aggressive with him. Read moreDrove to Planet Fitness (PF) Gym, Saturday, 2/10/24 @ 9 am, for tanning bed. The PF employee became dismissive, after informing that all tanners are out of service, by looking away from me and to start conversing with other coworkers at the PF check-in counter. After waiting for their conversation to finish I then politely requested if they knew if the tanners will be out of service all day, a few hours and/or minutes. One of the people. an elderly man, who was present and was conversing with PF employees advised me to come back tomorrow. Upon this advisement to leave and return tomorrow from this elderly man and observing the two PF employees who were part of this conversation and hearing this they did not say anything in agreement or otherwise. I had requested if he was an employee of Planet Fitness Gym and then at that moment, I was confused and then in disbelief, when this elderly man became confrontational and judgmental by stating to me that I appear to be emotionally upset; Apparently, because of my request, of his employment status with the Planet Fitness Gym and also with the PF employees' being present and not responding to this judgmental statement to me. I respectfully informed this person that I was confirming his employment status because of his verbal direction for me to return the following day and not receiving any response from the other PF employees present and witnessing this conversation. The elderly man apologized for his misinterpretation of the situation and responded that he is actually a customer and upon stepping away from this confrontational conversation without the PF employees' assisting or interjecting in any way to circumvent this matter. I also had observed the PF employees giggling with each other.... until they saw me watching them and at which time they stopped. My debit card expired during the time my payment was due. I went to the gym told the lady at the counter about my debit card and she said it was no problem and she updated my account.
The next day I go to the gym, check in with no issue and go to the locker room to change. There is about 5-7 other people in the locker room as well. I did not know any of them.
As I’m changing my clothes, a Planet Fitness staff member comes into the locker room and in front of everyone, starts talking about my account out loud for everybody to hear!!!! I told him that I’ve already spoken to someone the day before and they were supposed to have noted my account. He said he didn’t see that but he’ll check.
After I finished my workout, I went to the counter to speak to the staff member that came into the locker room talking about my account out loud for everyone to hear. I asked him if what he did was a Planet Fitness Corporate Policy or is that a Janesville ONLY Policy? As I will be reaching out to the Beloit Planet Fitness, Madison Planet Fitness and Rockford Planet Fitness to see if they do this same practice.
I will also be contacting Planet Fitness Corporate Office as well.
So be careful if your expires, you loose your card or whatever, they will contact you for everyone and give a care if anyone else hears your business..especially when is in regards to your account. Z
