This is probably the worst internet provider in the country. Over the years they have provided nothing but an unstable service that goes out many times a day and is completely unusable during peak hours. You can expect completely non existent upload speeds that wont let you change a netflix show. You will not be able to game or work with their service, it is completely unusable. Everyone I know has this same experience regardless of location. I have had multiple apartments, friends, and family with the same completely unusable service.
Their pricing is extremely high because they have a monopoly in many areas and is probably the only reason they have any customers.
Their marketing is completely full of it and constantly makes false statements like 99% uptime while its out 5 hours a day. They will also advertise speeds up to X but will never give you anything close to that number. Don't pay for anything but the lowest price if they have a monopoly on your street, they have no difference in speeds between prices.
I have had to wait months for technicians that come and are completely clueless and do not solve any issue. If you ever expect a cable to be buried, expect it to not be done properly and to cause severe property damage.
I have also had this company claim that I borrowed a router and modem that I never did and attempt to charge me for it (have always used my own). When asked about what it was they thought I had they gave me a product that cost around 60$ and tried to collect 200$ from me. Needless to say I never fell for their scam and they tried to get something out of me through a collections company...
It is virtually impossible to get ahold of anyone over the phone and their phone service is constantly down. When its not expect hours of hold music and an automated machine with a dialogue tree so complicated you will have to write it down to figure out how to get anywhere.
Do not pay these people money under any circumstance, you will want to pull your hair out every day. I am sure every customer they have had prays a class action will end...

I scheduled my set up after a TERRIBLE experience with CenturyLink even though Mediacom is quite a bit more expensive I was willing to pay more if the service was better and heck if the quality was better too that was a plus.. I called a couple times about prices and both times the representatives were AMAZINGLY friendly. That was good but I wasn't convinced yet because CenturyLink's representative was nice too... There was quite a long wait to have services installed but heck I went one week without Wi-Fi, I'd be alright without it for a bit longer.. The day of my service comes around and I get a call at around oh 11 and a gentleman by the name of Dakota is on the phone asking if he could possibly come in and install earlier.. Normally this would not have worked as we don't get off until 4:30 however my fiancé happened to be getting off work at noon that day unexpectedly and that would put her at home around 1:15 after running some errands.. So we agreed that he could come at 1:15pm. 1:15 comes around and he isn't there, no big deal stuff happens... lol.. It hits about 1:23 and Dakota is calling me just to simply inform me he is running a bit behind and that he should be done where he is and on the way at around 1:45. AWESOME COMMUNICATION MEDIACOM!!! :) So he shows up a little after 1:45 (drive time of course) and my fiancé said he was very polite and friendly. Overall, so far, I am very impressed with what I have received from Mediacom... I will wait to comment on how the actual service is until I have had it for a bit but their customer service is GREAT! Much better than CenturyLink!!!!!!!!! Good Job! Dakota is a great tech! I would like to add to this it is now 6/20/17, my internet service has been good thus far as well as TV channels... There are some times during the day where the internet seems to stop for just a couple minutes but I turn the Wi-Fi button off on my phone and turn it back on and it works. I'm not sure if this is my phone or the service through Mediacom but it never lasts more than a couple...
Read moreUpdating my Post to call out another OUTSTANDING service from Mediacom… Zack McKinney buries cable for Mediacom. What an incredible young man. I had a potential issue with the way one of my cables have been buried and Zack refused to let it be anything less than perfect. The work ethic and dedication is refreshing and sorely missed throughout our country. People like Zack remind me why I moved back to this area. You don’t get service and dedication like that in any big cities I’ve ever lived in well done Zack! and Mediacom… If you haven’t given this young man a raise for taking personal pride, and offering a little more of his own time to make things perfect… Please consider doing something to make his service more worth his while. If other companies saw his integrity… they would certainly try to steal him. I know I would!

Internet and phone does not meet my standards in Jefferson City. We need more towers. I paid less in Washington DC (military guy) in the most expensive county to live in in the United States than I do here in Jefferson City… That being said there is one man that definitely deserves a call out and I give him FIVE STARS!
Danny, Tech 72, was sent out by our local Mediacom, to assess and resolve my Internet issues. It was the most thorough Internet appointment I’ve ever had. He was aggressive at making certain I would not have to call back and even gave options just in case we still needed to push harder towards even a better signal.
He did not make excuses for how my internet was initially installed. He just made an assessment of what he saw “right now” during my appointment and gave options that he would do if it were his house.
This man was clearly here to serve and for that he definitely gets FIVE STARS for our local Mediacom here in Jefferson City, Missouri Well done...
