Read moreAnd just when I thought this store had gotten something right they managed to snatch a victory and feed it right into the jaws of defeat. I went in wanting copper wire and expecting a disaster. First of all, this store is always a disaster. The copper wire is on a roll on a huge machine and you can never get anyone to help you. So I see a group of five employees standing around talking. I head over. They see me and take off. I manage to get the one who had his back to me so he didnât see me coming. I tell him I want wire and I wonât let him go until he finds me someone to help me. We head to electrical and there is a man actually working. The kid hands me over. This man knows what I am talking about?!?! Andy. He tries and tries but the big rotating machine that the spool is on is broken. So Andy uses his brain and gets a ladder. He reaches over using a tool he was using to straighten the shelves and grabs an end of the wire and boom! I get wire. Then he notices that the packaged wire ( which I didnât know they had) is cheaper. So I get that and another gauge wire that I didnât know they had. And I get a wire cutter. Now, Iâm not about to wander aisles pretending I know what Iâm doing (spoiler: I donât). So instead, I bee-lined to Customer Service where I met the wonderful Maria P. She listened patiently to my rambling âI just want fire without constant propane babysittingâ story, and thenâlike the pro she isâcalled in reinforcements. Enter Greg, who escorted me to the right aisle like a knight guiding a lost villager.
Not only did Greg find the exact connecting piece I needed, but he also made sure I grabbed the special glue stuff so I wouldnât accidentally blow myself up. (10/10, would appreciate not being a neighborhood headline.)
The teamwork between Maria P. and Greg was top-notch. I walked out of Home Depot with everything I needed, problem solved, and with the happy knowledge that I will have uninterrupted fire pit vibes at last.
Huge thanks to Maria P. and Greg for turning a potentially frustrating trip into a friendly, successful, and slightly hilarious adventure. You...
