I brought a loose diamond to Diamond Hut Jewelers and ordered a custom band/setting (Apr 2). I sent over reference pictures of the features/design I wanted, along with the dimensions of the stone. I was told the whole process would take around 2 weeks.
A few days later they called me in to approve the ring before they set the stone. At this point, it did not yet have the euro shank and was a larger size than I requested. I thought this was strange since I thought it would be custom made using CAD, but it looked nice and close enough to what I asked for, so I didn’t question it. I was then told that they are now going to resize the ring and add the euro shank. Looking back, I should have made it explicit that I expected a CAD drawing and for them to show me before continuing.
The following week (7 days later) they called me in and I brought in the diamond to have it set. The setting also looked completely different than the previous ring I approved. Since the design I wanted was on the simple side, I think they initially used a stock shank and replaced the original setting with a custom one, but then it looked like it wasn't properly integrated into the shank and the diamond was crooked. Just overall low quality work. It was already pretty late in the day so I asked to come in the next day.
The next day I came in and met with Sheena, where I pointed out all the issues I had with the ring and she said that she acknowledged them. she asked if if she could send it out to their workshop where they have more jewelers and tools to fix these issues and that it would take around another week. I said OK and left the ring with them along with the stone.
After a week, I got the ring back and it didn’t really look much better. They had fixed the asymmetry with the Euros shank, but the stone was still crooked, but now there was some dark marks, and jagged edges on the ring. I brought it home with me just to inspect it and then I called in the next day to report the new issues that I had found and they asked me to come in on Saturday.
So I come in on Saturday and I meet Shaun who is the president of diamond hut. We have a discussion about how since the diamonds are set by hand, there are going to be minor imperfections, which I expressed that I understand, but I think there are larger issues.
After I point out all the issues, He tells me that they will be remake the ring for me, which is a huge relief, and also that they will redo the entire ring using CAD, and that in a couple days, he’ll send me a digital drawing for me to approve. He tells me that it will take another week, and I leave the ring with them again. He also says that he’s giving me a carte blanche and that any other ring features I want I can tell him now, with no extra cost. I initially did not specify what prongs I wanted, but it was at this point where I stated I wanted double claw prongs. he also had me text over the reference photos and list of design features to him later that day.
As promised, a couple days later, he texts me the CAD drawing, which I approve. Then later that week on Friday (May 2), they call me to tell me what my ring is ready. I go in to pick it up and it’s exactly what I wanted! Although there was some hiccups, they were receptive to my feedback and the final ring is beautiful. I think if you are also interested in custom work to be very clear about what you want and will make the...
Read moreI highly do not recommend this Jewelry place, they provided the worse service. I went in to purchase a new holder for my pendent because I just recently purchased a Miami Cuban link chain and the holder was too small to fit through the lock of my new chain. I provided the sales lady my chain so she can look at the size of the lock and make sure the new holder is larger enough to fit. She wrote all the details down on my order slip and I thought she understood what type of chain I carried. A week later I went in to pick up my order and the holder was too small, the sales lady then took a picture of the lock on my chain/noted my receipt as well so the jeweler can provide me with the correct sized holder. She told me to come back in three hrs and again a third time the new holder was too small. This was very frustrating especially when I go to a jeweler that is supposed to know what they’re doing. They then said to give them 10-15 mins, they asked for my chain to see the size of the lock and they took it to the back. When they came back out the holder was AGAIN TOO SMALL and I had enough, requested to cancel this order. The jeweler had the audacity to charge me $50 dollars for labor which I paid but will never return back there again. On top of charging me for something that i shouldn’t have paid for because it was their mistake, THEY POLISHED THE LOCK ON MY NEW CHAIN WITHOUT PERMISSION. Worse experience ever, poor service, awful customer service and I will let everyone I know to never purchase anything from This...
Read moreI went to Diamond Hut (had never been there before) just to ask some questions about upgrading my engagement ring center stone, and if I wasn't able to purchase a new center diamond then possibly raising the prongs so that the stone that I already have looks bigger. I spoke with Roger who was beyond informative, sincere, and patient, while knowing that I would not be purchasing services that day. He took his time in answering all of my questions, providing me with a level of customer service that I had never received from Zales, Kay or any other jewelry store.
The next day (today) I decided that I would raise the prongs on my ring, but had to go to the Newport Mall location since the repair guy was at that location. My ring was ready in just over an hour and it looks GREAT!! And again, the level of customer service I received was amazing.
And last, TO OTHER JEWELRY STORES: Customer-Service is the KEY to turning potential customers into lifetime customers. Even if I know that at the end of the day, the person working at the store wants me to buy something, I will be more inclined to buy the product if I feel as though the person values my interest and financial situation more than the store's sales goals for the day. Diamond Hut makes their customers feel valued and they don't con you into buying something they know you can't afford. They work with you to find jewelry that suits your needs and your interests. For these reasons, I will never ever buy jewelry from any other store but...
