I reserved this space this past weekend to host a small baby sprinkle for my sister. I contacted them via email with my concerns about what I experienced during the event but I have received no response. Please think twice before booking here. The vibe of the host might ruin your event and they don’t seem to care about customer service. If you look at the other negative reviews they all seem to mention a host with an attitude and we are likely speaking about the same person. Please see what I sent to them after having my event here:
When I first walked into the space, at 11:30 AM which was the agreed time on by the host that I had been corresponding with from the phone number you sent me, Kiara did not say a word, looked me up and down, rolled her eyes and proceeded with whatever she was doing - and this was pretty much her attitude the rest of the event. She seemed bothered by our presence, unfriendly when asked questions and put a damper on the day that was noticed by the guests including my sister who the event was thrown for. The other young woman (who I remember saying she was relatively new but I cannot remember her name) that was working today and assisted us with the candle making was helpful, polite and welcoming.
In addition to Kiara’s unpleasant attitude. She wrote out names of guest from the first version of the guest list I had sent you when I reserved the space - which had more people than what I had paid for/different from the updated guest list I sent you 2 weeks prior to the event - which I did not realize until later. I let her know that I had sent an updated guest list and some people cancelled last minute. She told us we could make their candles and gave me an additional 2 stickers for a guest that was on the second guest list I had sent to you. Because of this, Kiara had placed out too many stickers and confronted one of my guests at the end- requesting her to pay for the “extra” candles that were made. However, the only reason there was extra is because the updated list I had sent on April 11th did not seem to be communicated to whoever was responsible for writing out the stickers for the guests.
I’m not sure if Kiara was having a bad day but if in the business of customer service I would except a more pleasant disposition - especially when hosting a private event for someone throwing a baby shower. I am highly disappointed in my experience today. I asked Kiara her name so I could remember and when I turned my back my mother witnessed her rolling her eyes at me.
As an aside - when we first arrived began to set up our table of food we noticed an unpleasant smell of what was I think urine. We brought it to the...
Read moreAshley was super helpful from the starting point to the absolute last minute. Long review because I really had an amazing time. She was courteous, prompt and super helpful in her emails prior to the event. I was celebrating Mother’s Day for some special women in my life and wanted it to be extra special. I bought balloons for decoration-but the place itself didn’t need any, as it was interesting and beautiful by itself- and snacks. I had a party of 5. We were fortunate enough to have a room off to the side with a little more privacy. It was perfect because it was my boyfriend’s mother meeting my grandmother and aunt for the first time. When I arrived, 30 mins early to set up, she greeted me with a huge bright smile and was super genuine. She allowed me to set up and welcome my party in. She introduced herself & politely answered all of our question. She then explained the steps to make our candles. We first had to choose our favorite scents, narrow them down to 2. Then mix it with our hot wax into the container. Then put our wick stick in. Voila, our very own candle. The process could have took 30-50 mins, but it took us waaaay longer. Lol. She allowed us to enjoy the time together by popping in and out to make sure we were okay but giving us space to enjoy each other’s company which was important to us. What was so awesome was that she partook in conversations. We talked about her starting out making candles, her motherhood experience, interesting facts about pregnancy, possible family connections, her family and just overall life. It was great to be able to connect to her on a personal level. My boyfriend thought she was dope, his mom absolutely loved her and inquired about future projects such as Amor Kyoor massaging candles, my aunt pointed out some possible family name connections, and grandmother enjoyed her hosting. I’ll be going back just because a byob candle making is unique AND we LOVED Ashley. Also the cool bean studio was super cool too. A lot of greenery, interesting art, & they were playing Fela Kuti, can’t go...
