Carmines Pizza — Restaurant in Jersey City

I have ordered from carmines dozens on of times and food has almost always been great. For the first time we had an issue with the food. The cheese on their Margherita pizza tasted off and it was really heavy on the cheese. It's also advertised as fresh mozzarella but is made with both fresh and shredded apparently. Regardless the taste was really off. There was also so much cheese AND it didnt taste good. Margherita usually is light on the cheese. I had barely had a little bit of one slice before I called to let them know something tasted bad. I offered to just bring it back and maybe get a refund and get something else (and pay for it). The person on the phone said that I couldn't get a refund because I ate some of the food. That seems silly, how would a customer know soemthing was off unless they ate it first. Nd its not like i sat there and ate the whole pie before calling. Truly regret ordering directly from them on their website instead of grubhub or seamless who would have offered a refund for quality issues. This was a very disappointing experience after so many good ones. Customer service goes a long way, especially when I offered to literally bring it all back because it genuinely didn't taste good AND still buy something else. She was calm and nice but offered no solution except that I come and buy myself something else and that they would do a quality check to make sure everything was okay. I didn't want to give. Very low rating since generally pizza is on point here, but I'll stay away...

Read the reviews here, so my daughter and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. She ordered two slices of their cheesesteak pizza to go, and I requested 3 slices of a pie that was just being brought out of the oven.

The young lady serving us, asked the gentleman (whom I presumed to be a person of authority in the restaurant) for the three slices from the freshly baked pie he held on the peel; he motioned her to take three slices from the cold congealed half-pie in their display case instead.

She again asked him once more, "No. they would like three fresh slices from that pie", but again, with his back turned to us, directed her to pick them from the display case.

Aware of the issue, I gently declined the offer.

He then decided to take the two cheesesteak slices out of the oven and move them off of the peel into the box she prepared with his bare hands.

I cannot say that I was too pleased with that either.

I wish I could offer a better rating, but I hope all who decide to patronize Carmine's Pizza Factory in Jersey City have a better overall...

Really disappointed with my most recent order. It’s clear the menu and ingredients have changed. We used to order the veggie pizza whenever we ordered from them but this new version is completely different and not nearly as good. The artichoke pieces (which were not on the previous version) they use are tough and the amount of olives they put on it overpowers the whole flavor of the pizza. You couldn’t even tell they put pesto on this pizza that’s how strong the olive taste was. The crust is extremely thin and just doesn’t taste as great as the dough they used to use. We liked to order the cheese fries as this was the only place that had a good cheese to fry ratio. This time it was like the took the container of fries and put a thin layer of cheese over the whole mound. Overall really disappointed and not sure I’d order from there again if this is the food...
