I could go on for DAYS raving about Jersey City Ballroom!! Between their friendly front desk staff and pro dancers, you will feel so welcomed the moment you step through the doors of their beautiful ballroom/studio. What a wonderful gem this city has to offer. Everyone is so professional and kind - if you have been curious about taking lessons, look no further and sign up ASAP! You can tell that JC Ballroom truly prioritizes their students and are very accommodating of everyone's busy schedules. It's evident that the co-founders, the sweetest husband and wife duo, pour their heart and soul into this place. :)

I grew up taking a lot of ballet lessons but I have to admit, when I was first introduced to Ballroom and Latin dancing during the fall of last year, I simply couldn't get enough!! It's never too late to try something new and I'm so happy to be a student here. Pricing is very fair and reasonable, but the love of dance and growth you get to see from learning new skills are unmatched and absolutely priceless. I cannot end this review without sending all my love to Paz - she is an incredible teacher and I've learned so much since meeting her in October. Ballroom and Latin dancing are not easy to learn, but like with anything in life, the more you do something, the more confident and better you become. I received a free lesson as a gift and since I was engaged to be married at the time we decided to use the opportunity to see if we wanted to do a special dance at our wedding. We had a wonderful first lesson and after some pressure we decided to sign up for a wedding package. Dylan was/is an excellent instructor. Never short on energy (or sass), Dylan took our song and built an entire dance for us. He took all of the ideas and dreams my wife had, and was able to incorporate ALL of them into our dance. I am not much of a dancer but by the end I was into it and very excited. We absolutely nailed it on our wedding day and all our friends and family cheered us on. -The whole team at Jersey City ballroom is thorough and accommodating. -Clear cancelation policy with email reminders. -Spotless facility that adapts to the class structure needed. We had private lessons and only occasionally did we have a second private lesson in the same studio (which is spacious). -Cost is a little higher than some other classes I looked into but it is a quality service they are providing. -Be sure to take your group classes, it helps you get comfortable with the moves by dancing with strangers. I bought a Groupon for a Wedding Dance Consultation and Lesson for One Couple. Our lesson was for a Friday at 7:45 pm and scheduling was super easy - all you have to do is email them, and they are super responsive.

For this session, they ask you a bunch of wedding-y questions like what you imagine your wedding to be like, what the reception area will look like, if there are any moves you'd want to incorporate, and how you want to feel during your first dance. Then they show you basic ballroom dance moves for the rumba, foxtrot (?) and I think one other one. It was nice because we knew what our first song would be so they were able to play it for us to practice to. It's also nice that it's per couple so you do get all the attention and feedback on what you're doing right/wrong.

We didn't end up getting the 5 lesson package because they said the prices were only good for 24 hours and we weren't sure if we wanted to commit. Also at the point, there was probably only about 1.5 months until our wedding, so we thought it would be too rushed (but that's on us for thinking about lessons so late in the game). There are some group dance lessons, which we caught a glimpse of since we got there early, which look pretty fun! Maybe something I'd consider for after the wedding, just for...
