Clean and Tasty: Where to Find the Best Indian Food in Jersey City 🍛

Great option for Indian food in the grove street area. However, it’s a 7-8min walk from the train station. Parking is hard to find. But the food compensates for all that. We had two appetizers - Samosa Chat : its at least had 1.5 large crispy samosas in it, appropriate amount of chutney and yogurt - Goat Fry : very flavorful and tender . I am a big fan of sizzlers, so we ordered - Clove garden mix grill : it looked amazing when they brought it out but it was a miss. Some of the meats had dried out by the time we could eat it. For main course we had - Lamb Biryani : meat was tender and incorporated with caramelized onions. It was slightly spicy but very flavorful - Lamb Rogan Josh : lamb was perfectly cooked and the sauce was indulgent - Chettinad Gosht : the chettinad flavor was mild but it went nicely with the Biriyani . - Bread Basket : very generous with their portions . It has 12 pieces of assorted breads Lastly we had desert - Gulab Jamun : it was warm and soft. Appropriately sweet. - Ras Malai : I prefer milk based deserts, I liked it the most - Gajrella : Less sweet than regular .

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at the Indian restaurant, and I strongly advise against relying on positive reviews. This place is not suitable for vegetarians. I urge you to examine the accompanying photo, which clearly shows watery chutney, mango lassi and gravy. The paneer tikka lacked proper marination, tasting more like turmeric mixed with random spices. Our pakodas were overcooked, burnt, and excessively oily. The chicken khima naan/paratha was absolutely dreadful. The chicken seemed to be two days old and appeared blackened. Please refer to the image for evidence. We also ordered the vegetarian naan with chili garlic and garlic flavors, but they lacked any discernible taste. We had to send them back, and even after a remake, they were still unsatisfactory. Our dining experience was so appalling that we were compelled to leave in the middle of our meal. This was the first time I've ever had to abandon a restaurant due to such poor quality.

Not good. I am really disappointed because I ordered from here since they were chosen as the 3rd best restaurant in JC by yelp for 2020.

I got Mulligatawny Shorba, coconut and saffron naan, mango chicken, eggplant bhartha and the rice pudding (kheer).

My first complaint is with the soup. Its supposed to be a lentil soup and there were no lentils in it. It was very watery and had a weird flavor that I can only relate to what I feel soap would taste like.

The second issue is with thier menu descriptions. I though mango chicken would have chunks of mango with the chicken because it says :Mango And Chicken Are A Power Combo Boneless Skinless Breast Chicken Prepared With Mango Sauce And Herbs. But it was def just a mango sauce, if that. It was an orangy sauce but it was NOT sweet or fruity. It was super super spicy. And no warning how spicy it would be. The eggplant bhartha was even more spicy and it was just a mushy mush. We had eggplant bhartha at other Indian places that was not as spicy, actually had a good flavor and you can eat chunks of eggplant. This was so disappointing.

The coconut saffron naan was interesting. Not fluffy naan, it was pretty thin. I didn't taste saffron. Just a lot of sweet coconut flakes. It tasted like they just dumped sweetened coconut flakes in between and that's it.

The most disappointment was with the rice pudding. It was not edible. It was not pudding! It was rice in milk water with some sugar and raisins. Even I can make rice pudding!

I was really expecting much better from all the good reviews. Unfortunately everything was just not good. Making something too spicy can especially mess a meal up since you wont be able to taste it... Anyway I recommend to skip this place...

Today, I visited Clove Garden of India for the very first time with my husband and child, and I must say — we were absolutely delighted with the entire experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality that truly made us feel special.

We went for dinner and ordered Chicken Wings, Malai Kofta, Chicken Mutter Masala, Mango Lassi, and Naan — and every single item was absolutely delicious! The food tasted incredibly authentic and flavorful — rich, fresh, and made with love. You could feel the quality in every bite.

What really stood out to us was the outstanding service, especially by Steaven, who went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was perfect. From the presentation to the smallest details, everything was taken care of with professionalism and a smile. A heartfelt thank you to Steaven and the entire staff — your hospitality was top-notch.

The ambience was calm, cozy, and full of positive energy — a perfect place for a family dinner. Even though it was our first time visiting, it certainly won’t be our last. We’re already planning to recommend it to all our friends and family.

If you’re looking for a place that offers delicious Indian food, warm service, and a feel-good atmosphere — Clove Garden of India is the place to go!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly...

I recently dined at this Indian restaurant, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. My experience was marred by a couple of significant issues.

Firstly, the food presentation was visually striking, but alarmingly so. It was immediately apparent that the kitchen relies heavily, and I suspect excessively, on artificial food coloring. While vibrant colors can enhance a dish, here, it seemed to be used to an extreme, almost artificial, degree. This raised concerns about the quality and freshness of the ingredients, as it made me wonder what the coloring was masking.

Secondly, and perhaps more disturbingly, I learned that the owner has a policy of taking a portion of the servers' tips. This is a deeply unethical practice, especially considering the service we received. Our server was inattentive and seemed overwhelmed, and it's incredibly disheartening to know that even when customers do leave a tip, a portion of it is unjustly taken by the owner. This practice discourages good service and is disrespectful to the staff.

It's a shame, as the potential for a good restaurant is there, but the excessive use of food coloring and the owner's questionable tip policy overshadow any positives. I will not...
