Storm Door purchase including installation. Most likely will try Lowes before I do this again with HomeDepot. Back in middle to early May (2018) I stopped by the HomeDepot to purchase a Storm Door and have it installed. I was with a contractor to help me pick out the door. Someone from HomeDepot the name of Branson assisted me. I picked out the door and was told I had to pay $35 to have someone go to house to measure and make sure the door would fit. Paid the $35. After a couple weeks I received no call so I stopped by HomeDepot and spoke with Branson. He said he would check into the delay. A week later I get a call saying someone will be at the house and they wanted me to put a sign on the door so they would know the house. The house has an address with big numbers indicating it.
The house for the install is a 50 minute drive from where I live but since I was frustrated waiting so long I didn't want to hold up this any longer and did as requested. I also took off the old door while there. Just before June I get a call saying the area was measured and I can pay for the door and installation. I immediately go to HomeDepot and do that. Weeks go by and no call on the installation date. I stop by HomeDepot again, talk to Branson and was told he would check into it. Now we are into the middle of June and I told Branson I wanted the door installed by July 4th to enjoy it. End of June I get a call from the company HomeDepot uses for installations. They tell me July 17th for the install!!!!!! That's 2 months to purchase and get a install date.
Early in the process I told the contractor that came with me what was going on. He told me he had a customer needing the same service and was going to try Lowes. In 2 weeks he had the door measured and was given a install date of before July 4th and confirmed with me it was installed. I emailed HomeDepot Customer service in June to complain. About a week later I get a email back from "CARRIVEAU, DAVID R", who said he was the manager for installations. Another few days go by of a promised phone call go by apologizing for meetings. We speak and I get promise of seeing what he can do to speed up the install. Today is July 4th, the install date is still July 17th and have not heard from David Carriveau. The complete process (except for Branson at HomeDepot) sucks and I will try Lowes next time. The idea is this is suppose to be a convenience. i don't see it that way. Even if I get a call back telling me they can install it next week they would be doing me no favor.
UPDATE JULY 10 Today (July 10) I receive and email from the David Carriveau stating he has reached out to the installation company and has not heard back asking if I did. NO, I did not and if they won't reply to the Installation manager why would they reply to me. Even if the installation manager at this point could move up the installation date it would be insignificant considering the install date of July 17th is next week. If anyone is considering this get a installation date first or try Lowes. I told the contractor that was with me of my delay. He told me he had another customer who needed a storm door installed at Matunuck Beach, South Kingstown,RI. He order his door from Lowes a few weeks after me and its...
Read moreThis Home Depot store nearly ruined my family's Thanksgiving! The customer service is terrible. I ordered a kitchen appliance set. Waited all week to receive the set and have the appliances installed, a week before Thanksgiving the subcontracted delivery people showed up- damaged refrigerator in tow, they dropped off the appliances in the middle of my kitchen and refused to install any of them despite the fact that I had paid for the service. When I called Home Depot they told me that they could not get someone else to install the appliances for 8 days and that I would not receive a replacement refrigerator for 10 days. There I was a week before Thanksgiving, child at home, appliances I couldn't use in the middle of the room and no refrigerator. When I expressed my frustration, the representative on the phone told me to try Lowe's for a refrigerator--can you believe that nonsense?!!! They actually recommended I go to a competitor-- so I did. Lowe's saved the day! Fridge and installments within days. Not only does this Johnston store get a poor review, they're recommending their competitors instead.
Two weeks later, they strike again! I really have to stop shopping at this Home Depot store and become a Lowe's customer, but like many of you, I grew up with Home Depot so I keep trying to love them. This past week I ordered tiles for my kitchen floor. I asked if I would definitely have those tiles delivered on time because I had workers coming on schedule. The manager assisting me made the guarantee. Friday came along and I was told the delivery would happen any time between 6AM and 8PM. I asked for a more approximate ETA and they told me they couldn't provide me with that. At 7:30PM I called and expressed concern that the delivery people had not called me. The manager got on the call and explained that the subcontractors refused to put the load on their truck and neglected to tell them. She guaranteed the delivery would happen this morning before the workers arrived at my home, all I needed to do was call the manager in the morning. I have done everything I need to do to be a good customer- I shop at the Johnston store almost weekly, I call, I ask, I treat the reps with respect-- always.. Well the manager this morning told me she "couldn't guarantee the delivery because it was raining and she wasn't going to put her associates at risk in less than ideal weather conditions."
What? I paid for the delivery to happen yesterday when it wasn't raining at all, now I was being told I needed to pay workers for their time while they waited for a Home Depot delivery because it was raining. I will be shopping elsewhere after today and I will definitely not recommend that my friends, family and neighbors shop at the Johnston store moving forward. I am thoroughly disappointed with the...
Read moreNever have I ever been more disappointed in any retail store than I have today. Not only did the woman who answered the phone for the pro desk not want to do her job but i was an inconvenience to be helped/served. Rosemary the said rude employee kept trying to pawn me off to the HomeDepot.com because my order was made online but failed to see that although it was made online was set to be delivered from her store. When after she said she’d check with a manager I finally got a call saying that the order needed to be canceled because they couldn’t put the correct address on the order that the system clearly messed up. I had to try and convince her not to do it and called back Home Depot.com and finally got them to call the validation department. They went above and beyond and got it pushed through for me. When it came time to hand pick the order the order came through her desk and she put a “ticket on it” and CANCELED the whole order even though the address was corrected and everything was it stock. I have never in my life seen someone stoop so low because I went above her head, she has 0 respect for customers! Me and my husband pro account made 45k in 3 months for our business alone not including our own house projects. We constantly do work with them so to have this level of nonsense is just foolish. I thought this company wants to continue making money but with employees like her, it’ll be ran into the...
