Well folks, after 27 years of myself and my coworkers coming to this restaurant we will not be coming back! The original owner and waitresses that worked there were kind, courteous and the food was delicious. We never had a problem there until now! I always order the same, eggs over medium, home fries and white toast. The eggs are either too runny or overcooked like they were today. The coffee always taste like it’s been sitting in the pot for a long time. Nothing changes there. The only reason why I go there is because, Harriet‘s kitchen, The lighthouse, Athena’s and English muffins are usually crowded,so Home Fries is always the last resort! The plump waitress with the black hair was totally rude and out of place to be talking to a customer (me) the way she did in front of other patrons! Here is what happened. My coworker asked the plump waitress if she could have another cup of coffee she totally never came back to the table. She was asked again and said she’d be right there, and still never came to our table and the restaurant wasn’t that busy. I took it upon myself to take my coworkers cup, bring it to the counter and help the waitress out by asking her if she could put some coffee in the cup she didn’t even let me talk to her instead she snapped at me and said,I told you I’ll be over and I said to her we’ve asked you twice already. The plump waitress delivered her water to the other table then came over to my table and started to berate me in front of the other patrons in the restaurant, telling me I’m always complaining about the food. I won’t lie. I do complain about the food, because I don’t get my food the way I want it I’m paying for the food. I should get it the way I want it! I don’t want brown eggs, cold food, coffee that taste old and toast that’s been sitting on the counter. I will never return to that restaurant again until there are new owners. I don’t know if she is waitress/ owner, but I know this, someone should tell her the customer is always right you don’t talk to customers in that manner! Since when has it become a crime to complain about food you’re paying for? Not my fault if you have lousy cooks! Oh, and just for the record, the other restaurants, I mentioned I never complained about the food, except for one restaurant the coffee is weak and it tastes like tea thats the one thing that I complained about, but I still go to that restaurant I order orange juice instead of coffee now. If you do go to Home Fries and they asked you if you want onions with your potatoes, you’re not going to get real onion’s you’re going to get onion flakes out of a bottle! I have never went to a restaurant in my entire life that put’s onion flakes on potatoes shame on you Home Fries for being too lazy to...
Read moreI decided to try this place because I moved to the area three months ago and always like to have 3-5 good breakfast places nearby where I can go on the weekends. The interior is drab, the seats are not very comfortable. I ordered two eggs, bacon, baked beans and English muffin with coffee. I hate to be this blunt but the eggs were simply awful. The breakfast was greasy overall and the coffee is pretty blah. The service was slow but the waitress I had was generally pleasant. I won't be returning.
ADDENDUM (after the business had responded to my initial post) Your response is childish. I think I now understand why your restaurant is the way it is. The business is a reflection of the owner. So I didn't have a good experience at your restaurant and vocalized it. That's what this forum is all about. I have written both positive and negative reviews to help fellow diners. Responding to negative reviews with petty, personal insults makes you look like a fool. In reading a few other negative reviews to Homefries, it seems you regularly respond in a very defensive manner. When I'm hungry on the weekend I won't stay at home sir (or madam). I will go to restaurants that do it the right way which means I won't be walking through your door. ...
Read moreThe first time I visited, I loved it. However, this last visit was a total disappointment. First, they were down a waitress so it was really slow. I would be ok with that if the waitress was friendly, but she wasn't. Second, my food was made an wrong. Wrong cheese, wrong veggies and it was super undercooked. Finally, I think it's nuts that you can't substitute a pancake for toast. I can see being charged $1.00 to do it but $2.50!?!? For ONE pancake!?! I was so disappointed. Won't go back.
I don't know how to reply to the owner's reply so I'll write it here. I think the waitress is remembering a different table. First, we ordered one coffee because 2 of us don't drink coffee. Second, it was not comped. Third, I can see charging an upcharge for the pancake but that's a lot for one pancake. I did not ask for a box for my pancake, I finished it in the restaurant. Finally, why would I tell my waitress the food wasn't cooked correctly when it took 20 minutes to get a...
