I recently visited George's Song Shop for the first time and the store is INCREDIBLE there are so floor to ceiling from the front to back of the store, John George is a super nice guy who is very knowledgeable in records and knows exactly where any album is that you may be interested in getting and if he doesn't have it then he'll let you know if he doesn't , people who say that John is a mean man that doesn't let you touch the records they're wrong about that because he's so friendly and you actually can look through and touch the records yourself. If you treat John with respect and have a friendly attitude towards him then he'll be the same to you because he loves music and the business that his father created , the prices of some records are higher because they're older and rare so they're going to be a bit more than what many people would want to pay but the prices are actually fair for what the merchandise is. I HIGHLY recommend you stop by the store and look around if you are into records because John has full-length albums, 45's , CDs , and 8-tracks. John even plays music in the store on a record player that he has instead of from the satellite like most other businesses , i had a great time and purchased a couple of albums. It's amazing how long George's Song Shop has been around it all started back in the 1930s, and the store had some struggles along the way, but they have managed to keep the business going to this day and it is all thanks to John for continuing the business that his father and uncle started if he didn't then we wouldn't have the US's oldest Record Shop and that's the thing that makes me most happy is that our city is home to the country's oldest...
Read moreGeorge’s song shop was well organized and fun to browse and look through. It was just me and my boyfriend there for a few hours. I’m not sure if the prices are fair but I guess due to the increase popularity of vinyl records that’s the way it is now. I purchased a brand new copy of per sounds (50th edition, 2016) for $30...a little pricey if you ask me. Again - I know pet sounds is a sought-after record. it was the last ONE he had of Pet Sounds! I also purchased a Donna Summer live record for $15 in fair condition. - seems as if the record was inward causing skipping. (Just needs some pressure to flatten).
I was impressed with his records but he didn’t have too many original pressings/used/barely any Talking Heads!!! Many popular classic vinyl records were new edition pressings...anyways, I would return! I’m not sure how often he is accumulating new records but note, I went around Jan 2021 (Covid times). Not sure if he hasn’t been keeping everything in stock due to this. Hey it’s a great store, check it out, support small business during...
Read moreAbsolutely great selection. Never seen so much vinyl in any one store..... some decent CD's too. However, the pricing was outrageously high. Both for brand new albums, and especially for used albums. $15 for any used single album....regardless of what the content was....WAY high. Maybe that's why there are 5 floors of stock (only 1 floor open for customers), and less albums being sold? Also, the attitude by the man working there was terrible. Watched us like we were ready to steal something the whole time and then got salty when I asked him if he still was charging $15 for a compilation album with a totally damaged album jacket. He actually suggested he would raise it to $20 if I didn't like it!!! I ended up buying something, just to so it wasn't a wasted trip to the store, but I...
