Underpowered, Overpriced, and Rude! We took our boat to M & M audio multiple times to have an upgrade to the stereo system. We added 4 Kicker KMTC9s (One of the best quality and most expensive wake tower speakers on the market) and 3 amps to power two Kicker 10” subs and 4 Kicker 6.5”s Upon picking the boat up the clerk at the front desk attempted to charge us $250 more than what we were originally quoted. She stated “our tech worked on that all day!” Regardless, after she argued with us in front of other customers and blew her fuse, pun intended, we ended up paying the price we were originally quoted. Once we got the boat back home, we noticed the quality of the sound was extremely poor!! It was heavily distorted and had a lot of static at any volume level above halfway. We were very frustrated by this but decided we would never go back to this shop! After further investigation and conversations with some master audio technicians as well as Kicker themselves we discovered the following poor quality work done by M & M Audio: The system was completely starved and underpowered for the quality it could’ve been producing! More specifically, they ran a lower 4 gauge power/ground (85 amp capacity) supply for a 16’ run from the battery to the distribution block. Then they downgraded wire gauge again to an 8 gauge from the distribution block to the amps themselves. The amps all call for four gauge wire for proper power distribution (see pics). The main power supply from battery to distribution block should’ve been 0 gauge or ott size OFC wire with an inline 300 amp fuse, not 4 gauge. I do believe they wired the speakers correctly from the amps so I will give credit there. See pics of old wire removed and correct gauge installed and diagram showing such. I told the owner, upon dropping the boat off, that if we needed to upgrade anything to let me know as I wanted this job done, right! No call, no communication whatsoever. So, fast forward, now that the job has been completely redone correctly with the proper gauge cable & inline fuses, WOW!! What a difference, day and night!! This system rocks like it should!! I’d recommend to inspect the job materials being used to make sure it matches up with manufacturer recommendations and use a highly trained shop with good technicians that have good communication skills. I would definitely not recommend this shop as they have VERY poor customer service skills and do not communicate with their clients. ...
Read moreYesterday I had an appointment to get my car tinted in 5% high performance tint and a 5% brow as well. I arrived at 12:50 and they instantly got my car and started working on it. While I was waiting they took me to the back and explained that my back windshield still has some left over tint from it being improperly removed ( they didn’t mention that but that’s why, which makes it a pain to remove) and said it would be an additional $70 I only had one window w tint left on it but it was in good condition. which if you know anything about removing tint it’s expensive. Typically $40 per window and 95 for windshield and glass. Charging $70 was very reasonable and well respectable. That takes time and by my mistake and not letting them know could have set them back on their schedule. Around 2:10 I got my car back and I was in love with the results. Turned out perfect however as I started looking at it more I started noticing small bubbles on the back windshield which I imagine was from moisture trapped or the back tint not being shrunk enough. Which is something so minor not enough to take a star away from. I also noticed that the winning was about 1/4 away from the side windows as well. When the door is shut you cannot notice but when the door is open you can. Again not a huge deal but a little bumming. I have a 1 year in house warranty on the tint so if the bubbling proceeds I could always bring it back and they would fix it. Exactly why they still deserve 5 stars. We are all humans and make mistakes. Especially with me setting them back on their tight schedule it was...
Read moreTamara,
Your response to Alex’s truthful review is laughable, at best! You were nothing but rude and I certainly did not and would not apologize for your attitude, talking over me, belittling tone of voice & poor customer service skills. Not to mention the unethical behavior of attempting to overcharge us on a price Mark had already quoted. I was present every time the boat was dropped off and for the conversation of upgrading equipment if needed. Which was not followed up with at any point on your end. We would not spend $3000 on high end wake tower speakers (not to mention all the other equipment) and question a $500 amp needed to properly power them with the proper gauge cable which you did not recommend nor supply. Your failed attempt as the self-appointed spokesperson for “All the Audio Shops in the four state area” once again shows your dishonesty. Your response is contradictory in itself and obviously untruthful! It takes a big person to admit when they’re wrong and your reputation precedes you! Hope you have the best day...
