We used to love coming in here.. However here is our new experience: Myself, my husband, and our daughter went in on Saturday, some time in-between *3:00 and closing, and had one of the most terrible customer service experiences. The cashier working-(older gal, long brown hair w/bangs and glasses)-, was SO unapproachable and unprofessional. First, she kept eyeballing my respectful older teen daughter, to the point my daughter felt uncomfortable. My daughter overheard her giving another customer the optionof keeping their purchases up front while they shop. She later approached my daughter, and while she was polite, she didn't make it optional for my daughter to leave her purchases up front, but rather was more so telling my daughter. While it's nice that they offer that, the fact that it wasn't an offer for my daughter, left a bad taste in our mouth .. when I crossed paths with this woman, I smiled at her, I got no smile in return, just a dry "can I help you find anything?" as she stared at us ...... Uh, no thank you... ((Awkward))
It gets worse. We had our eye on a piece of furniture. When we made our way back to it, the price tag was missing. So naturally I went to politely ask about it. When the cashier saw the piece I was interested in, she didn't communicate anything to me, she just started walking away while shouting across the store: "someone's trying to buy your cabinet!" "Someone's trying to buy your cabinet!" this left me confused as to whom she was even talking to.. was it the seller?? As she started to walk away I started to follow her, only to realize she was talking to another customer-(a customer that ?apparently? bought the piece). She then proceeded to exaggerate my interest in the cabinet to the other customer. You know, as if I wasn't even there... So professional right? It might be helpful to put SOLD on something if you don't want to bepolitely& innocentlyasked about it!-(NOTE:she never did put "sold" on it). I just brushed her behavior off, and later we went to pay for the few treasures we found. We just happened to end up in line behind the customers that bought the cabinet. No big deal, except for the fact that this woman-(the cashier), was talking about me AGAIN to the customers. And making my, polite inquiry, about the cabinet into a big deal. I kept hoping it would get dropped but she continued going on about the whole thing, at one point I heard her (in a hushed voice) repeating my inquiry about it, in a way that was belittling me. And this was while we were standing right there! I found myself having to respectfully speak up ,twice, in hopes she would just DROP IT. She didn't drop it, up until the customers left. It was completely uncalled for, unprofessional, unnecessary and childish! Please note, I was nothing but nice and respectful to this woman, and so was my daughter and husband, even when she was behaving poorly. She had absolutely no reason to carry on like this. She really went the extra mile to make sure we were good and uncomfortable. Almost deterring us from buying anything at all. And for what...?
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume this isn't the owner, due to the sheer unprofessionalism and rude behavior. Shop owners don't deter people from giving them business. I would hope this type of behavior isn't tolerated or condoned. This was a first for us at this establishment. We were shocked. At this point we don't know if we'll be back.. But our bizarre experience definitely...
Read moreBIG SHOUT OUT to Wendi at Kalama Vintage Warehouse. Aside from offering some of the best prices on a wide range of vintage and antique items, Wendi really stepped up to the plate this past weekend. I live 3 hours away, and inadvertently left my credit card at the register. She not only searched me out on social media in order to notify me, but also gave me the choice of her shredding it on my behalf of mailing it to me. Customer Service of that high quality is found less often these days than most of us would like. Next time you are in the area, be sure to stop at this marvelous shop, and to thank Wendi on all of our behalf for her 'above and beyond' approach to satisfying her...
Read moreOn a whim, my wife decided she wanted to look at antiques and so we drove here and we were pleasantly surprised! They have a wide assortment of items to fit almost any need or collection. The shop was packed with items everywhere you looked but it never felt cluttered or piled on. We took our time and were amazed by the condition of the items. It looks like they took great care to make sure the items are in decent condition. We were also surprised at how affordable most of the items were. Nothing seemed to be marked up to crazy prices. We ended up with a couple cast iron pots(that they did a wonderful job restoring) and some tools for myself. We will be planning another...
