We have eaten at and placed take out orders at this restaurant several times over the last several years. I strongly support local business, but I also hold firm to the expectation that a reputable business will offer good product and back it up with good service.
We ordered dinner last night from Lucky Dragon in Kalama WA. We ordered the Family Dinner B for three. With that order we chose their General Tso's Chicken as one of the selected entrees. The first bite of General Tso's Chicken had an ammonia like taste. Hoping it was a fluke, or just a funky piece, I dug out another piece of chicken from the middle of the container and took another bite. The second bite also tasted like ammonia. That's not a good flavor for food, and is often indicative of spoilage. Could have been the chicken, maybe the sauce, maybe the oil?
This was not a major deal for us. The remaining food was acceptable (not good, but it'll do if you're hungry and have flexible standards), and was more than enough to feed our family of four with leftovers.
I called the restaurant to let them know about our experience. I offered to return the General Tso's Chicken if they would like. The gal on the line was friendly, very apologetic, and offered to replace or refund the General Tso's Chicken, no return necessary. I explained that we were not interested in replacing the food, as we had been turned off of the idea of General Tso's Chicken. I had paid with a debit card, and asked if they could just refund that portion to the card. She explained that sorry, no we cannot do that. No biggie, I figured we'd swing by and collect the refund in person the next day.
Today when my wife went in to collect the refund (more out of principle than anything else) they offered a voucher, but no refund. My wife explained that we would have no use for a voucher, as we had made the determination that we would not be patronizing this restaurant further. We were not going to leave a review until this experience sparked the inspiration to do so.
My hope is that the restaurant pulls off some kind of miraculous turn around to a level of quality that was once there. The last couple of take out orders we have made have had a noticeable drop in overall quality in the food.
I wish them well, and hope they take something of value from...
Read moreWas one of our favorite places to eat, until last night. We heard that there are new owners. Well, they have a lot to learn before they have our business back. We were so happy that they were still open for take-out. Called in our order at 5:10 pm. Arrived at 5:45 pm. Our order should have been ready to pick up. Asked the gal at the front desk and she said that she hasn't seen it come up yet. The place was busy. There were 10 or 12 people inside waiting. Not a very good situation during social distancing time. Anyway, the gal at the desk continued to answer the phone, even had people on hold taking one order after another. The phone was ringing off the hook. She was talking on the phone and handling the register at the same time. It was hard to tell if she was talking to you or the phone. After another 15 or 20 minutes, most of the people who were waiting were gone and now there were new people waiting. So, I asked about my order again. Nothing! At 6:30 pm, I decided it was time to walk out. So on my way out I asked if they lost my order or what? By some miracle, it was sitting right there beside her. So I said, "maybe you should get off the phone for a second and help the people in here". I paid and drove home (25 mins one way). Got home and realized that she gave me the wrong order! So angry! Drove all the way back and dumped the bag on her counter and demanded a refund. Won't be going back any time soon. That woman was very rude! She needs to get off the phone when food arrives from the kitchen so she can properly serve the people who...
Read moreThis has been our go to for Chinese food since we found it 5 yrs ago. The food is good and large portions. However, I feel recently that the quality of the food has gone down. My issue is with the customer service. Or lack of. We usually order online to pick up. After ordering I get an email confirming the order and then another when food is ready. We ordered this weekend and after 40 min I never got a confirmation email. I called to see if my order had been received and the girl quickly and rudely stated that it was really busy and my order is up front ready to be picked up. When I got there to pick up my order only half the dining room was full. Another girl looked at me and curtly said hello? Like I was bothering her. I told her I had an online order to pick up. She brusquely asked - what did you order? Then disappeared in the back. I had no idea if she was even getting my food. 10 min later a different girl came to the front and picked up my order that was sitting on the desk the whole time. Who knows how long it had sat there. I paid and went out to my car. Luckily I know better than to leave without checking my order. They have shorted me or given me the wrong things many times. And this order was short a fried rice. It took 10 more minutes to get the wait staff to get me the rice. I have been letting the bad service slide the last 3-4 times we have ordered food. It just seems to get worse every time. I might have to find a new...
