Updated 7.28.18 - I am updating my initial one star review, which I have left in its entirety below after my most recent experience with the Boardroom.
I was contacted by the manager who wanted to make things right for me after my initial experience, and was invited to come in and receive the services I had initially booked. I decided that I really had nothing to lose and we quickly found a convenient time for me to come in.
When the time of my appointment came checking in was easy and I was quickly seated in a comfortable chair with a cold beer. My wait was not long at all, but I had time to relax and enjoy my drink, too.
My head shave and neck trim was with Hannah, who was friendly and took the time to make sure that she knew exactly how I wanted things done. She made certain that I was comfortable, that the towels were not too hot, and she was very thorough.
The Boardroom does have a premium price tag, but after actually experiencing it I do believe that the cost is justified because of the time that is taken and the effort that goes into making it a relaxing experience. I have amended my score to four stars. However, just as I thought it was important to preface my initial review by stating that I was basing my review on a system error and not the actual service received, I think it is important to explain the score I am giving.
My actual review of the experience that I had with the staff, even when I was called in regard to the problem with my initial appointment, all the way through leaving after my appointment actually happened has been five star service. The staff is great, they are polite and welcoming, friendly, and definitely make the experience what it is. I am leaving the review at four stars because, while the initial problem was ultimately fixed, that issue still occurred. It is in no way the fault of the staff at the Katy location, it was a software error, but I do still feel that given the premium nature of the service that it is a system issue that should not have happened, hence my leaving one star off. I was very pleased with my experience, having actually gone now, and will gladly go back and treat myself to their fantastic service. I feel it is important to state up front that I did not actually get to keep my appointment and my review of the Boardroom is based on the frustrating circumstances that brought about the cancellation, not any action on the part of the staff.
I had heard of the salon and decided that I would try it the day before my anniversary so that I looked particularly well groomed for the special occasion. I didn't have a particular stylist in mind and opted to book online for the services I wanted, trusting the reservation system to put me on the right schedule. I booked about a week out and got my appointment email, and a few days later a confirmation e-mail and text, both of which I replied to.
The day of my appointment I was called by a polite young woman who apologized and explained that the individual I was scheduled with was not actually able to perform the service I had booked (head shave). She did offer me a later appointment but I had a prior commitment and so I wound up cancelling the appointment. My limited interaction with this young woman was polite and she did seem sincerely apologetic. My score is based on the fact that, given the premium nature of this establishment, I find it very frustrating that the scheduling error happened in the first place and that it wasn't caught despite my confirming the appointment until the day of, preventing me from making other...
Read moreMost recent visit: so management convinced me to return and give them another shot. I have to say, I will definitely be changing my rating. My experience was a complete 180 from my previous experience. The staff was courteous professional and incredibly talented. I received the benchmark and it was fantastic. They took their time to discuss exactly the kind of haircut I wanted. They treated me like a VIP. It was a truly special experience especially since I was just getting a simple haircut. This is much more in line with the experiences I've had before with them, and proves to me that my last experience there was an outlier. they definitely have made a repeat customer out of me, I will be back again and again.

Very disappointed with my experience today here. I booked online for the benchmark haircut and an express shave. Apparently another Andrew also booked for an express haircut. Nobody thought to check to make sure which Andrew was getting which haircut. So I realized too late that I was not getting the benchmark. I was getting the express cut. Unfortunately this is exactly why I go to this place that I can get the benchmark. So I was very disappointed. The receptionist was apologetic but recommended that I call after booking online to make sure I got the right thing. How is it my responsibility to confirm after I've already made an appointment? also, after calling my name, nobody checked to make sure I was getting the correct haircut. Nobody asked me so you're here for the benchmark? We're doing the benchmark today? Nothing. They just started cutting. I didn't realize until it was too late and I wasn't getting a relaxing ham massage that this isn't what I had asked for. No attempt to make amends was made by anybody. No offer for a free upgrade for next time. No manager came out to talk to me and apologize. Nobody really seemed to concerned about it. They offered to let me go back in and finish my benchmark, but at that point I'd already finished my haircut the whole point of it is that it's a whole experience in one sitting. I didn't want to go back and just to get a ham massage. That all being said my shave went fantastic. James was amazing he did a clean and excellent shave. He did go in and tidy up the back of my neck because apparently whoever did my haircut didn't do a very good job at that. Overall very disappointed with the management of my day there. Read moreI had been a long time loyal customer of Boardroom, actually ever since they opened in the Houston area. Although it is high priced, I justified the expense because of the great quality. Over the last year this fell off sharply due to high turnover. I had a handful of bad haircuts which from an organization that is structured as a high end mens salon you would think this problem would be recognized and corrected. I reached out to the owners directly with my concerns requesting some type of refund for what was remaining on my membership stating that I'm just no longer satisfied. I let them know that it was basically a 50/50 shot I would have the same stylist or one that could provide a quality haircut from visit to visit and that just isn't acceptable for such an expensive service. Their response was that the contract is binding and any refund is against policy. This is poor customer service in my opinion. Sure I understand the contract, but given my loyalty over the years I expected better treatment. A partial refund would've been better than a slap in face. I would recommend looking elsewhere for...
