Pet Supermarket — Local services in Katy

I went to pet supermarket for the first time yesterday and I have been a lifelong Petco customer and I have to say there is no comparison. Pet supermarket staff and management give impeccable service, the dog washing station although closed at the moment is a wonderful feature. The store was so clean and well kept I thought they had recently opened and when I asked the manager (a wonderfully polite and helpful girl named Judith) if they were on their grand opening or something she said no that they had been open for years. The fish tanks clean, the reptile cages were spotless and the temperatures were correct rather then too cold like at petco, the animal cages had new bedding and the animals looked happy and healthy. It felt like it was someone’s house with their personal pets rather then a company trying to sell them to you. You can tell this young woman truly had a passion for animals. She walked me around and gave me all kinds of information on different food brands and treats I never knew before. She showed me a new joint supplement for my bulldog that I am so excited to try out. That kind of personal service and attention to detail and care about the customer made me feel so comfortable there I will only be shopping at pet supermarket from This point forward. So, I went into the store a couple of days ago to buy a rabbit. There was a young lady and an older white male. The young lady was nice but one thing that I did not like about the male. He was literally talking us out of buying the rabbit. Worst experience telling me how they die all the time from kids and they don't like loud noises. etc the whole conversation was negative. I felt like he heard me say I am a mother of 5 and was like oh no and tried to talk me out of buying for whatever reason. Showing me other pets when I specifically came for the Bunny. I finally said like do you not want me to buy it. He was informational but it seemed like he did not want my family to have the bunny like he was prejudging. Telling me how he always gets a call 3 days later saying the bunny is dead because people don't listen. Long story short the bunny does well with my children and is not affected or a little startled by loud noises. The bunny is the total opposite he told us not to even hold him for 3 months. Unfortunately I did not have a good experience here, nobody greeted or acknowledged me when I walked in, it made me feel out of place, like I didn’t belong there or something. Another set of people walked in were helped right away, but not me. I had never been there before so I was expecting someone to say something, but they just looked at me, (like they never seen a cute black girl with curly hair), I even went closer to the crowd of workers that were standing around to see if somebody would ask me something!! But no, so I bought my dog some food and I left.
