Exceptional! We had a wonderful week staying at Hale Hanalei in May 2022. The house was impeccably clean, tidy and stocked with beach supplies. We enjoyed the AC on the top floor but taking advice from the home owners, we managed the AC respectfully and turned it off when doors/windows were open. The outside sitting/dining areas where full of comfy, teak furniture and perfect for early mornings, lunches and dinners on the deck. Despite the desire to sit at the beautiful natural-edged indoor dining table, we sat outside everyday for long evening dinners with friends. Regardless of the weather (many rainy days that week) this house made the stay perfect. The kitchen made us feel right at home - dishes/platters for serving, bowls for mixing, nice wine glasses (that’s important!), and an ice maker for chilling the tropical drinks.
The main floor has two master bedrooms with private bathrooms - this was great for the older-adults in the house. You can see the mountains from each window on the main floor. The first floor has three bedrooms with two full bathrooms - this was great for the younger-adults on the trip. Although it was warm on the 1st floor at times, the bedroom fans made nighttime sleeping just fine. With a hot tub off the 1st floor patio, this was a lovely escape for a quick soak at the end of the day. There is a full stock of towels, beach chairs, and boogie boards, and an outdoor shower for getting sand or mud off before entering the home. Great idea and much needed! The washer/dryer helped to freshen up beach towels quickly at the end of the day, and enabled us to help out the staff by doing loads of bath towels on the last day. A mid-week house cleaning was a pleasant surprise and maholo!
This house is amazing for a beach destination. Just a walk from the beach on one side and a walk from Hanalei town and stores on the other. Eventough the house is tucked among other rental homes, we never felt crowded. This was our second house rental along the north shore of Kauai. What stood out to us and puts Hale Hanalei miles above the other: cleanliness, fine furnishings and kithen amenities, and location.
Kevin, the property manager, was great to deal with and met us upon arrival. All instructions were very clear and he was available at any time for any help at all during our week. He took care of the weekly garbage/recycling schedule which was much appreciated. Great spot everyone! This is what we expect when we rent a property and you...

To be fair to the property manager they did what they could to fix some of the stuff I've mentioned above, while we were there. I've taken pictures of all the deficiencies and sent them to the property manager.
We've stayed in allot of vacation properties over the years and for the money charged for this unit it is a complete rip off, if you look at the pictures on VRBO it looked great but as far as I'm concerned is was a bait and switch, what you see was NOT what you got. We were VERY disappointed in this unit the owners of this property should be extremely embarrassed at not...
Read moreWe rented this house for 4 couples for 3 weeks. The layout of the house with 4 en-suite bedrooms, pool, location and view were terrific. We enjoyed the spacious kitchen, the outdoor space and wonderful sunsets. Our 1st problem was that the kitchen had no oven. The property manager provided a countertop oven which filled our needs. The second and more pressing problem was with the A/C. Almost immediately, there was water on the floor in one of the bedrooms and 2 of the 4 bedrooms heated up during the day and never fully cooled down at night. We notified the property manager of these problems and after assuring her that we were not leaving outside doors open or playing with the thermostats she sent an “A/C guy” who, as it turned out, was a plumber. He looked at the water and did nothing about that or the A/C. As it turns out, the owner who lives in Ohio had control over the thermostats and lowered them with little effect. Four days later, more water on the floor and another futile visit from the plumber. After a week of texts to the property manager and warm nights for the occupant of the 2 bedrooms the owner agreed to send a real A/C tech. So 10 days after our first complaint the A/C guy arrived, added coolant to the system and said the house is hard to cool because of high, uninsulated ceilings. Based on an inexpert opinion, the house is long overdue for a new A/C system. The property manager sent us texts saying “sorry you are unhappy with the solutions the owner has provided” when in fact after initially blaming us for the problem there were no solutions. We should not have had to spend so much of our vacation dealing with and worrying about issues that are the responsibility of...
