And I’m currently planning my 3rd visit 🤫 Comment KAUAI and I’ll send you the Google my maps I put together for this trip with some additional spots to check out if you have time 🙌🏼 WHERE TO STAY: - if I was to go back I would split up my time and do half on the sunny side (southern half) and half on the northern side - if you only want to book one accommodation, pick Kapa’a as your base since this is close to a halfway point and has a ton of great places to eat - if you’re okay splitting, I recommend 3/4 days in Poipu and 3/4 days in Princeville/Hanalei area. This will give you easy access to Waimea Canyon and the Na Pali coast/Kalalau Trail WHAT TO DO: - hike the Kalalau Trail to Hanakāpī’ai beach or falls (you need a permit for the shuttle or parking lot if you aren’t a resident) - hike Sleeping Giant - drive Waimea Canyon and hike at the top - visit Hanalei Bay for shopping, the beach, and to watch sunset at the pier - kayak Wailua River to Secret Falls (you can do a tour or rent your own) - do a whale watching tour (Dec - Apr) or a sea cave/coast tour (May - Nov) from Port Allen (@kauaiseatours was amazing!!) - visit the Kilauea Lighthouse to see native birds, whales (if you’re lucky) and numerous other wildlife - do a beach day at one of the many beaches on the sunny side or in Kapa’a - we loved Lydgate Beach - hike Moalepe Trail and check out the swing - hike the Wai Koa Loop and swim in the reservoir *PLEASE follow Leave No Trace and ALL signage as it relates to proper etiquette on the trails here. This is an island with a fragile ecosystem and ensuring we don’t transfer seeds or invasive species to new parts of the island is ESSENTIAL. WHERE TO EAT: - @sushigirlkauai has some of my favorite poke - @hanaleipoke so so good - @kilaueabakery for some of the best baked goods I’ve had in a long time - @avalongastropub for a nice dinner - @javakaikauai to satisfy your caffeine needs - @wishingwellshaveice or @wailuashaveice if you want to try shave ice - @japanesegrandmascafe before whale watching or sea cave excursion - @holeygraildonuts if you love yourself at all #kauaifood #kauaieats #kauaiactivities #hawaiitrip #explorekauai

Great sushi and more, all from a little truck in a cute courtyard. Discovered it while picking up coffee and bakery at a cafe that’s in the same courtyard. We ordered online and picked it up since it’s a truck and not a sit down restaurant. The courtyard has tables and benches shared across the vendors. So we sat at a table. You may have to wait a bit since this is a small operation run with care and love, and it shows in the food! We devoured everything we ordered. Voted amounts our table that the roll and sushi burrito to be the best thing. We could eat there everyday - the fish is just super fresh and the rice was well made proper sushi rice. We also had spam sushi called Musubi. Not my jam but my friends really enjoyed it. They also have a few vegan options. Highly recommend this place. Easy to get to with a free parking lot.

First off I’ve been going to sushi girl since the girl started this many years ago, I think her name is Taylor. But in the last couple of years, I’ve seen a digression of the quality of the sushi made there and especially service. Everything from mixed up orders to, wrong orders. Pieces of hair in the sushi, bad service. The other night I called in my order said they said it would be done in 30 minutes when I arrived, they said they had accidentally given it away to someone else. They said they’d have my order out in another 15 minutes. I actually waited one hour. As the girl who was making the sushi kept taking phone orders,, that she couldn’t fulfill telling them the same thing it would be 30 minutes when that was not even possible. Once my order arrived, it wasn’t made to go like I asked the sushi burrito fell apart, not used to the same quality that once was there. There was a young boy working there, and he was not very friendly and his customer service skills were lacking to put it nicely. Both of these young people working in there, we’re hustling trying to do the best they could, but obviously did not have to train to carry out their task. Didn’t give the right amount of time that a customer would be waiting. And kept teaching orders she could not fulfill in the promised time! This will be my last time at sushi Grill the last several times I’ve been very disappointed in the and in the...

This is an updated review. I ate here once and yes it was a good sushi burrito for a decent price ($16) but I guess that experience was a once in a lifetime experience. I live on the island and since going there I have returned 3 more times only to find them unable to take orders. I've called everytime before hand since the first time we showed up during business hours to find them in an unadvised renovation according to their website. Every time I call there is a long ring with no answer. Same thing happened today and after finding their social media accounts and confirming that they are actually open we decided to drive all the way there to give it another shot only to be told that they don't have any more food (during lunch hours) and we need to come back another time. I asked if their phone worked because maybe it went down from renovation and they didn't know and they said we don't accept phone calls if we don't have food. So basically in order to find out if they have enough food to serve you or if they're open you have to drive yourself all the way to their only location and try your luck. 1/4 times was enough to not want to go back for us. It doesn't hurt to answer the phone of an expecting client and fill them in so they don't waste their time. Thankfully Paco's tacos is close by and it's saved us from starving and is arguably a...

Unfortunately the service was so poor that we never had a chance to try the food. We showed up a few minutes after the posted opening time and awkwardly stood in front of the place for a few minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge us while we listened to their profanity laced chit chatting. Finally I poked my head in to ask if they were open and they said they were not, but would be in about 10 minutes...to be conitnued.

We returned 20 minutes later and asked if they were open. After some discussion inside the kitchen they turned and said they could take our order but it would be 20 minutes at least to get us our food. Reluctantly we ordered but they refused to accommodate an order over greens because they said they didn't have enough greens and needed them all for the burritos. No apologies, just a blunt response.

We left and went across the street to another fish restaurant. The entire interaction was unprofessional and they were quite rude and defensive. Thankfully they didn't have those greens otherwise I would have to live with myself knowing I supported their business.

Do yourself a favor and read the other negative reviews....
