Our cat Luci had snuck into our spare bedroom and fell from a second story window, breaking his rear leg. We had taken him to an emergency vet that quoted us $8000 to fix the leg with very low chances of success, and $6000 to amputate. This was unacceptable pricing that we had no way of paying unless we waited over 6 to 8 months to do surgery that he needed now. We were worried sick we would have to surrender him, but after calling around, we were able to find a vet able to do it for $1200, including an exam, the surgery, medicine, and check-up as well as keeping him an extra night for observation. To pay for this, I had to take a personal loan from family to be able to afford his surgery without missing rent. We had just gotten the confirmation a few hours prior that his surgery was successful, and he was resting. Three hours later, Friends of Felines contacted us preparing to tell us that they could fully fund his surgery and get him in tomorrow. We let them know the update, and they still decided to fund $500 of his surgery and that they will be calling the Reid Veterinary Hospital in Albany first thing tomorrow to pay. I am astonished that if we had waited just a little longer, his surgery would have been fully paid for, but we had no idea this would happen after everywhere else quoted us several thousand dollars to even just amputate the broken leg and he needed the surgery as soon as possible before the sedatives the emergency vet gave us were gone and he was in extreme pain again. We wanted to wait as little as possible to avoid the risk of complications. I believe her name was Chelsey. We had called them prior to see if they could do their surgery as they were recommended by friends, but if I remember correctly, they had not done amputations in a long time and quoted us a price over $2000. The person we originally spoke too, must've continued asking if there was anything they could do, and Chelsey reached out to us. I am so grateful for Friends of Feline for their contribution and preparedness to fund the surgery as a whole, they had seen Luci and his brother several months before to be neutered and get their shots. They asked nothing in return, so I decided to just post this review, and my partner posted on Facebook and Yelp. If you need anything, I highly recommend reaching out to Friends of Felines to review their resources! I will be recommending them and calling them in the future ahead of time. After reviewing most of these 1 Star reviews, it seems it is the peoples own fault for their bad experiences. I have only had good experiences with Friends of Felines and that's coming from a lesbian couple that gets discriminated against almost everywhere else. They took good care of both of them, and have only been kind.

I adopted the sweetest cat from Friends of Felines. The staff and volunteers are amazing. I have a lifelong affection for Manx cats and their Manx ways. My beloved Tortie Manx passed away about 17 months ago. I wasn’t ready to adopt, but had stopped by to meet and love on the kitties a few times. I just love the vibe of the adoption center. I would look at the “Adoptables” on the website. They keep it updated! .Just dreaming and thinking about opening my heart and home to a new pet. About a year ago, I helped my elderly Mom adopt her cat. On Saturday afternoon, I randomly checked the website for adoptable cats and saw Naomi’s photo. She was on a stray hold. I immediately sent her photo to my family! FofF is closed on Sunday and I couldn’t get to Keizer until Monday afternoon. Before I headed out, I checked Naomi’s status. She was no longer on stray hold! I drove straight to the shop, was greeted by staff and we were introduced. She is friendly, brave and affectionate! I fell for her charms! She gave me a headbutt! I completed the paperwork, promised to love and care for her all the days of her life and plan for her future if something happens to me. She needed to get her chip before I could take her home. The vet was busy but took a moment to do the procedure so Naomi could go home with me! The staff gave us many ideas on introducing her to my home. This helped to settle right in. I named her Cayenne Naomi and she is a special girl. Friends of Felines is a remarkable organization, with amazing dedicated staff and volunteers! They truly care about our communities’ cats.

This is a absolutely amazing and genuine organization!! They go above and beyond not only for the cats that are in their care, but for the cats that are in the local community as well. My first experience with them was when I went there and adopted a cat from them. His name is Mr.MeowMeow and he is also a cat they rescued who was found on the streets with a eye injury who ended up needing a eye enucleation. They were very kind and patient for the whole experience especially with my six year old daughter who had lotsss of questions😅 He has been the biggest, blessing and greatest addition to our family 🐈‍⬛but my most recent experience with them is why I am taking the time to write this. Recently a stray orange cat showed up on my porch with a head injury, and I was not in a position where I would be able to assist him myself. I reached out to a facebook group and was connected to them and they instantly agreed to take on fostering him, and getting him medical attention. They partnered with a local trapper, who came out and transported him from me to them. He has now been neutered and adopted and has gotten the second chance at life that he deserves!! I could not recommend this organization more!! The photos are of my cat. The orange kitty with his injury, during his intake, and his adoption. 10/10 would recommend!

BEWARE if there was a way to leave less than one star I would have. I saw a pair of cats I was interested in adopting on their website. Knowing that I was not going to be able to go in until the weekend I sent a friend of mine with a letter about myself and my family including our current pets and a hold fee. The person my friend dealt with was very kind explain that she would make an exception given my circumstances and allowed them to be placed on hold. Today, I drove down to Salem from my house about an hour away to visit with the cats and see if they would be a good fit. When I arrived we sat down with a young girl who reviewed the letter I already sent in with the hold fee as well as the application I filled out. After reviewing the application and the letter she said we would be approved to adopt the cats. As soon as she said that one of her co-workers walked up and said oh no they cannot be in a house with dogs. Nothing on the online information which led me to put a hold deposit on them to believe that dogs would be a problem because it was not part of their profile. When I asked for my hold deposit back I was told by a very uncompassionate worker Jackie it was not refundable. I think spoke with the Assistant manager Tina who did not take any responsibility for the situation and only made excuses. She explained we are now updating their profile. Well, if it had been accurate in the first place we would not be standing here having this conversation as I understand if they are not a good fit for my family they are not a good fit and nothing would have transpired. If I had somehow made an error or not been truthful or transparent I get that I should forfeit my hold fee. However, I went through a lot of time and some expense and invested in a situation that was hopeless even though I did everything I was supposed to. The girl approved my application. However, they forgot some of the details and then refused to give my money back. I understand it's a rescue I understand it's a non-profit and if I choose to give my money willingly understanding what I'm getting into that's on me. But, them allowing me to put the hold knowing my circumstance knowing that I have dogs indicating it would be okay for me to adopt these cats choosing to approve my application and then at the last second say no is completely unfair. It seems like they're extorting donations by deception. I have a cat who recently passed away and it was time for our family to get another. I have already been through much and to go through this situation just further deepened my sadness. Based on my only interaction with his organization today I will never do business with them or do anything that benefits them because I cannot in good conscience say that they are an upright honest and worthy...

I used to love this place and fostered for them, but I observed the same employee twice stealing donations of wet cat for herself, dry cat food and cat litter. I was falsely accused of being rude, when I have always been polite. They accused me of using the feral wet cat food for my own 4 cats, one of which I bought from them, and my own 4 cats are on a completely different diet. They used to give me cat litter for my own cats when I ran short because they receive donations for the public, and because I dont have a lot of income. Now I am not only being refused wet cat food but also cat litter that they have been giving me. I saw them give the cat litter to another person who wasn't wearing an Israeli Star of David. I am Jewish and my parents were Holocaust Survivors. I am also a Everytown Domestic Violence gun Survivor and a Survivor of other abuses and I an a Senior on disability, and don't receive much money. I spent half my income for years and still fostering kittens that I have given to Friends of Felines, and foster homes. Friend of Felines told me to stop bringing them kittens. I still foster the homeless kitten, feed the homeless kittens, elder cats and all cats that come up from Rickreall Creek that have no home, because I love all animals. I always put any animals needs before myself, because an animals life is worth more than any amount any amout of money to me. I don't want anything to do with this organization, they blocked me off of Facebook because I know the truth about them, and I blocked their e-mail address because I won't let them lie to me, use me, or abuse me ever. I would think twice before donating to them because I have seen them steal and I believe they are dishonest. Now I am concerned for my feral cats health, and homeless cats health because I am unable to provide for them. I don't...
