Awful customer service. I have never been treated so poorly. My experience/rant: I went into the kelso store today with my boyfriend to purchase a hand gun as a gift for his birthday. We went into the gun counter and he had already chosen the gun he wanted from the website and had a screenshot of it. He showed the screen shot to the employee at the counter once we were next and he checked stock and they did have one. The address on my boyfriends driver’s license has not been updated since we’ve moved so the clerk told us we couldn’t start the purchase unless the ID was updated or we had another form with the updated address. He said that a registration from a vehicle would work so we went out to our truck and grabbed the registration as that did have our current address. On the way back into the store I handed my boyfriend 3 one hundred dollar bills which was part of our rent money to put into his wallet because he was going to go pay our rent later in the day. When we got back to the gun counter ready to start the process we were told that they couldn’t sell us any firearms because they had watched me hand a bundle of money to my boyfriend even though I was the one buying the gun with my debit card and that money had absolutely nothing to do with what we were in the store for. We went to customer service and spoke with the MOD and he said we could only go through with the purchase if I purchased a gift card and then they could use the gift card for the purchase of the gun. We did that and waited in line once again to start the purchase and paperwork for the gun. As we were waiting in line we were approached again by the same person that told us they weren’t going to be able to go through with any transaction. He asked if Logun could hand me back the cash I had earlier handed him prior to the purchase of the gun. I really do not understand how what I do with my own cash has anything to do with me buying a gun with a gift card. I also don’t understand why it is relevant to any employee where my money is being held when we were not even using said cash for any transactions in the store let alone why it is anyone’s business in the first place. We complied with the request and went through with the purchase. Meanwhile the clerk that was helping us was being checked on by associates walking by as if we were trying to scam the business or do something we weren’t supposed to. I have never been treated this way by any other establishment and don’t understand what the issue was in the first place. We were not raising our voices, cussing anyone out or calling anyone names throughout the whole ordeal either. Frankly I am just appalled. I asked a simple ask. Do you have snow suits when i walked in. The girl was nice but wasn't sure snd said check clothing. I go over there and the guy working tells me I'm not sure it's not my dept. (Mind you the store is super small so it shouldn't matter) the whole store is the size of a department at most stores. I go to the front and ask if theres someone that works there that actually knows what they have and where it would be located, because the guy working back there said he didn't know and she said, oh well, that's the only manager on duty.I said that's the manager?? She said yes, and I said, that's terrible, that the working manager doesn't know what they have or where things would be locate. I'm in sales, and I'm going to tell you. Whoever the owner is of this company is being hurt by the lack of quality hes hiring in employees! Service is really important to me and to most people in the world.It is. If you're gonna be a store like this. That charges more than department stores. For the same item, the whole purpose of you being able to charge more.Is the experience in the customer servic. I worked a company that was partnered with bass pro who is a leading company in this industry and every consumer that was surveyed, said they don't mind spending more because of the service and experience. In a small town like kelso, there is no way.This store is going to make it long term with better mom and pop stores like Bob's sporting goods offering a good experience and good customer service! I will from now on, drive across town to bob's.For that exact reason and I certainly encourage other people to do the same. My time is valuable and it takes me less time to drive to bob's and get pointed in the right direction, then it does to sit there and have a half brained manager, help me. I'm really not trying to be rude, but the customer service is excruciatingly horrible. Read moreWent in to put ar15 on layaway and start the 10 day waiting period. I’m new to the sport and don’t know much about the process as far as rifle purchases go. I gave them all my info and down payment on the rifle. They charged me $18 for the background check and told me it will take 10 business days before I can own my rifle. Came in two days later to finish paying off the rifle and payed it down to 1cent. I guess they need to “own” the gun until the background check cleared. Fast forward 10 business days and I go to pick up my rifle. Turns out they forgot to have me fill out the proper paperwork and in the two times I was there no one thought to make sure the background check was actually in process. Me being unaware of what type of paper work I needed to fill out for the background check, I thought they had everything they needed for it. After being placed on hold several times and no definitive answers on why I wasn’t able to pick up my rifle I finally went in and spoke to the manager Sarah. She confirmed that the person that sold me the rifle forgot to get my background check goin. Kind of odd since they charged me for a background check. Now I’m forced to wait another 10 business days during the holiday season which will in reality take almost 20 days. Very frustrating and disappointed with the service they offer. The manager offered me 10% off of my rifle that I won’t be able to pick up until next year. For such a big screw up I can assure that wasn’t sufficient enough to satisfy this unhappy customer. I will go out of my way to never spend another dime with this company. They are the Walmart of sporting goods. Somehow in all of this it was insinuated that it was my fault I didn’t make sure I filled out the proper paper work for the background check. I’m new to the AR sport and this was a present to myself. I was very let down and disappointed after waiting the first 10 days to get my AR ONLY TO FIND OUT I WILL HAVE TO WAIT AN EXTRA 15-16 DAYS.
