Went into Sheep's Clothing today. Our local yarn shop. Decided that I will never set foot in there again and they will never see another dime of my money. On one visit, I was put in the awkward position of listening to the mother (owner) chewing out her teenage daughter (who also works there). It was painful to watch and listen to. Unfortunately, where I was when they started,I had no escape route and had to listen to the whole thing go down. I let it go. On another visit I was witness to the owner visiting with a group of ladies and she was telling them how the customer she had just talked to was "an idiot and a complete waste of her time." I was shocked that she would talk ABOUT a customer IN FRONT of other customers like that! For some reason, I let that go too. A couple weeks ago, I stopped in looking for a sock ruler. She said they were completely out but could special order one for me. I said no, figuring it would give me an excuse to go yarn shopping again when she got some more in. I purchased three expensive skeins of sock yarn (What can I say? I have a weakness!) and left. I returned today (a couple weeks later) and once again asked for a sock ruler. A young girl (the one I previously witnessed being chastised) said she wasn't sure what that was and went to ask her mother/shop owner. I followed. I was very rudely informed by the owner that they were still out of them because I chose not to have one special ordered so they didn't order anymore. She said she had an order for them pending but hadn't placed it because she had no reason to because nobody had placed an order for one. I asked when she was planning to do so and when she thought they would be in. She said she wasn't planning to place the order because she had no reason to. The daughter asked if I wanted to order a set and I said I would think about it but I wanted to look around a little. (Honestly, I was angry and was just trying to make a polite exit.) While pretending to look at a book, I overheard the owner basically refer to me as an idiot because I didn't special order them so why did I expect to find them in the store? WHY would she place an order when she had nobody wanting them?!
Excuse me. I have spent literally HUNDREDS of dollars in your store. This is now the second time I have asked for the same item. They should have automatically been ordered the FIRST time I asked for them. I can easily order this item off Amazon or Etsy but I like to and was trying to support a small local business! I walked out absolutely LIVID today. Before I even got in the car my husband (a business manager himself) was asking what was wrong. I told him what had happened and he agreed. I will procure my knitting supplies elsewhere from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to this shop several times and Iāll admit that there is a good selection of options for those who crochet or knit or whatever. Beforehand the shop attendants were slightly rude teens or an unhappy young adult (of whom the young adult was more helpful). Iām a costume-maker, not really a yarn person. However I have been disenfranchised by this shop by a negative experience not only by myself, but of a dear friend and my own sister. I happened to go in one day to find out if there was yarn for a costume piece Iām in the process of researching. Said friend was also there doing some work on a piece and we waved hello (yes this is important to know she is there). I continue browsing and soon Iām attended to by the person who declared herself the establishment owner, Tish. I thought it kind that she attended to customers personally, but I figured wrong. I had just found a yarn that suited my fancy, not caring of course what type it was as long as it got the job done for the piece. The owner insisted that I use a different type for the piece that I wanted, telling me I knew nothing about yarn (which is not totally true). I had not been planning to buy that day as I was just scoping parts for pieces and I kindly refuse the service. I still had no hard feelings when I left the store. Afterwards (a couple of days) I was talking to my friend who was there at the time. I had mentioned about going and getting the yarn when she stopped me. She explained that after I had left she mentioned the store owner had muttered that āshe is worthlessā and that my ātime and energy was worth nothingā. Thatās not fine and dandy. In addition my sister more recently had a negative experience. She is in the process of learning to knit and an experience there (which she refuses to talk about) has caused her to desire alternative locations for her yarn. Still did not feel a need to write about this. I figure it many have been a bad day for the attendant who helped my sister and my sister was feeding off of emotion and my friend could have been lying or not hearing right (I usually stay neutral until I have proof). Then I started to hear other comments from people. One friend said she knew the young adult attendant and she (the daughter of the owner) was not treated well, yet another person told me that she was called rude things as well. I heard several other people in the costume community comment on their experiences. Well worthless, her sister, and friends will not continue to shop at that store. Iāll find my yarn at another...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHonestly, if I could comment under some of these posts I would. I went into this store for the first time today. I only found out about it because my sister seen it first. After searching the store on Google for the hrs of operation and reading half of the reviews y'all have posted I almost didn't go. I'm glad I did because I didn't experience any negative energy nor vibes from the owner or her daughter. They were both very pleasant and when I had a question I thought was stupid the owner didn't hesitate to explain it to me.
The yarn selection was massive and awesome. Ive only been crochetting for about 3 years now and I wanted to work with some smaller good quality yarn. I got a super good deal on yarn that was 50% off since I wanted to make sure I wouldn't give up on my project before buying more expensive yarn.
For those of you who also read the reviews on this store, don't let that stop you from going in and checking the store out for yourself!
To the store owner, thank you so much for being patient with me while I looked and for answering my questions! I...
