I had THE BEST service experience at this business...words cannot truly express this level of customer service. On a recommendation from a friend, after having a TERRIBLE experience at a competitor, I popped in for a quote on some scrap gold that I hoped to sell. I had a Ziploc bag with various items of various qualities (10k, 14k, 18k, etc.) Upon entering and being greeted, I explained that I had just recently attempted to sell this gold at a competitor and that business didn't have any interest in walking me through their buying process; what they look for, how they evaluate the items, or how they arrive at a buying price. I asked and I asked and I asked. I posed the question three different ways, not because of the offer they gave me, but rather that they threw a number out and simply could not let me know how they arrived at that figure. They also made me feel like I was a bother for asking. ALSO, they told me that a number of my pieces were 'costume' when I KNEW they were not. The guys in Belmont Coin & Jewelry listened to me (also guessed which competitor I had visited), took the time to really look at the various pieces I had, did some formal testing in front of me, and then TALKED ME THROUGH the process. Man did it feel nice to understand the why's and the how's of what they could do. Not only did I ABSOLUTELY do business with them, but because of their high level of professionalism and knowledge, they determined that my 'costume' jewelry had simply lost the markings (at least much of it...I definitely had items that were not of much value and I trusted their evaluation process.) Their offer was almost three times that of the competitor days before. I walked out with cash in hand, actual paperwork, and a great deal of gratitude for how well they took care of me. Kudos to the team at Belmont Coin & Jewelry! I...
Read moreJust tired of belmont CON & jewlery lol. Prices are definitely better at American Coin And Jewelry at the time I’m writing this. And I just either talked or literally saw 3 places that buy/sell gold/silver today around Dayton. I usually only go to the best priced buying or selling which is NOT Belmont Coin & Jewelry unfortunately. Asked how much they would purchase 1 ounce silver rounds or eagles, maple leafs etc. (been doing this for over a decade now) they said $2- $3 off melt? That’s a lot. For me ant least. I’ll just say unfortunately they haven’t changed since I first started w them so many years ago. I tried to keep doing business w them but every time I came in I was reminded or “bullied” by the manager and others there because of an old (old back then too) mistake BOTH made. Still tried to go in and do business after all that but still nothing changed other then them to keep asking me to take my old review about the story of what happened even though we all agreed and obviously knew it was true and a mistake.
My longgggg point, don’t do business here because they are not an honest business period. This isn’t something I go around doing either with reviews. This is like the 2nd review I’ve ever even done in my life for anything online so I’m not being a Karen lol. Flat out, just being hones to try to warn/tell people there’s other cheaper options just as close just as good service if not better and same if not more to choose from. This is coming from a person that’s been to all the coin shops near Dayton and have nothing to gain from this other than trying to help someone get a better deal buying...
Read moreBelmont coin and jewelry was recommended to me by my friend Ryan who works at helzberg Jewelers by the Dayton Mall. While he had no direct experience with Belmont, he told me that all of his customers recommended them. Another associate in helzberg chimed in I believe it was one of the managers and said yes Belmont has the best reputation in town. My father and I visited Belmont with a plastic tub full of silver that I dug out of the back of a closet. Most of it was plate. I believe Belmont offered us a fair price for the pieces seeing as how they're only purchased at weight, they weren't coins or anything. I believe Belmont is an honest fair dealing silver gold coin and jewelry dealer. I highly recommend them for their fairness and honesty and well-earned reputation.
Update: After my father's passing, I took some coins to Belmont. My brother had done some research on the coins and provided me with some guidance figures for the collection. I took the coins to Belmont and the quoted price was 2,000 less than what my brother estimated. As he was not able to be present (he was working that day) I told the gentleman that I could not finalize until I heard back from my brother. I sat in their store for about a half hour as my brother was giving a presentation and could not get back to me immediately. The guy upped his offer to within $300.00 of my brother's estimate and we accepted. I guess I would say do your research first if dealing with an estate. Still giving them 5 stars, but...
