Newly renovated and place looks amazing. Huge improvements in the quality of inventory with impressive variety of organic and other healthy options in every department (not just produce). I am super excited to see these changes but cautiously optimistic because quality of service has always been a huge issue at this store (bakery and deli remain a challenge) - simply poor quality training of the staff, who lack the most basic customer service skills. Newly hired staff members are much better: energetic, customer service driven, SMILE, and are courteous. But the sour apples remain and that causes inconsistencies in the quality of customer care. I was promised by several members of management on different occasions over a period of several months that a product I had requested had been ordered but to date, nada. Very disappointing. GOLDEN HOG Market down the street continues to get my business any chance I can because of the customer service they provide (and incomparably higher quality of products) . It’s so much better than this Winn Dixie that this is actually an unfair comparison. This Winn Dixie could rock if they simply realized the terrible quality of service they provide and then fixed it. That’s not to say that ALL of their employees are bad because there are some great ones there, mainly new ones though, and they are appreciated. Also beware of your receipt - on a few recent occasions the advertised price was not properly charged - this has also happened with friends who shopped there. Read moreThe only large supermarket on the Key, parking is tight, crowded entrance and terrible customer service. The employees need MUCH better training. They either hate their jobs or resent the clientele they serve. The coffee bar was relocated to the entrance of the store and is in a very cluttered area. The man at the coffee bar this morning could not be any ruder. Didn’t speak English and when I asked if they still sold Cuban pastries as I could not see any, he just kept directing me to a case saying ‘ this is what I have’ . I kept saying yes, but do you sell them? He got nasty and kept saying the same thing in a nasty tone. Finally I asked if the store still carried them and he said yes but they run out by 10 am. He does not even know what the pastries that were available are-when I ordered chocolate croissants he corrected me and told me they were ‘pasteles’. They only had 2 cashiers available and I had to use the self check out. I didn’t see the one I picked was card only until I was trying to pay and the screen froze. I switched to another one and paid. The woman overseeing the self check out came to me very rudely and accused me of not paying for my one $1.00 bag of frozen peas. I told her I had switched registers as I wanted to pay cash and she asked if I had the receipt which I showed her. She only said ‘ok’ and turned around and went away. A much better trained employee would’ve asked me politely if I was able to complete my transaction, or did I need help finishing my transaction and then ask for the receipt. I purchased a package of T-Bone steaks, 3 steaks to a package. When I arrived home I started up the BBQ went inside and opened the package. If you look at the package from the outside at the store you will see 3 beautiful steaks overlapping each other with bone and beautiful filet but when you open the package and separate the steaks, the other two had filet removed. "Picture attached", I cooked them anyway but it's obvious that it was staged that way.
Long story short, I went back two days later because I wanted to verify if it was just my bad luck or done intentionally with others. Hmmmm would you believe that all of the packages are exactly the same? I picked them up and shook it, loosening them upside down to see and sure enough; no filet. Very dissatisfied and disappointed, I stopped going over two years ago because of similar events with the veggies etc, I was told they revamped the place; which they did, looks great but after this. Sorry! No more. They ripped me off once but it won't happen...
