Having never been on an ocean fishing boat or fishing trip-after today's adventure, I'm hooked! Not only was the experience incredible but I learned a lot more about fishing than I could've imagined! Captain Rick and his first mate Joe were a fantastic team! You could tell their years of experience and also their patience with novice fishermen [or fisher women] like myself! Captain Rick worked tirelessly to find my husband and I some Mahi Mahi to reel in [which is saying a lot because 2016 Mahi season has been slow] and Joe busted his butt to make sure that when Capt Rick did find them that we had them all hooked before they could get out of our reach! No sooner did you hear Joe yell fish on, next he was calling mine or my husband's name to come grab the pole and start reeling it in! Reeling in fish isn't as easy as it seems but with Capt Rick and Joe on our team it was not only doable but it was a blast!! I never would've expected to be enjoying myself out rocking, in the ocean, in the blistering heat but they made it so much fun and kept close eye over my husband and I by frequently asking if we were feeling okay, offering drinks and snacks [even though we brought our own]. It felt like we were out fishing with old friends-not two strangers that we had just met! There is no match for their knowledge or their friendliness out there! Being tourist and new to the area, it's easy to get taken for a ride for someone who is just out to take your money. Luckily, we found Capt Rick and Joe who were not only trustworthy but out to give us the experience of a lifetime-no matter the time or costs! This was by far a memory my husband and I will remember the rest of our lives and we are already trying to plan our next trip out with Captain Rick and Joe! Had a great time fishing a half day on the Sea Horse! Only mistake made was we should have booked a full day!!

Capt Rick is a seasoned Florida Captain that just finds fish. I have been on countless charters and I am now at a point I can walk up to a boat and know if its going to be a good day and it took me about 30 seconds to feel the vibe and it was Good!

Once we got back to the dock, Capt Rick took our photos and cleaned our fish while suggesting some other Key Largo spots to check out. One being Skippers which we went to for lunch because they are one of the best catch and cook places on the key. Nothing like eating 2hr fresh grilled dolphin!

But the best thing about being back at the dock was watching all the other charters returning with ZERO fish, all using the conditions as an excuse. The looks on everyone's face when they saw our bakers dozen hanging from the nails! I pointed the envy out as part of my thank you to Capt Rick and he made a comment that finding Mahi on a half day is uncommon and many wouldn't even try. He said we got lucky and that the Lord answered his prayers. But it just proved to me I had just been on one of the best boats in the keys and that my 30 second gut instinct that morning was spot on.

Update 4/2022- We just returned from another Islamorada trip and had the opportunity to fish with Rick on the Seahorse. Again our experience was hugely positive. Cole is now Rick's 1st mate and was awesome; such a hard working 1st mate. The two of them make for an awesome team and ensure their charters get the most from their fishing experience. Fish in the boat and had Wahoo's cook some of them upon our arrival back to the dock. Rick has upgraded his boat since our 1st trip and she is such a smooth ride! 100%+ recommend this charter. Rick and Tommy are a top shelf fishing charter team. We arrived with no pre-determined prerequisites of the type of fish we wanted to catch; just wanted to bend the rod. Rick made recommendations upon arrival for the best chance of success; he did not disappoint! We had an awesome time. Tommy, an 'Ol Salty' was the 1st mate; he has so much knowledge about tackle and bait. Think he has been around for a few tricks and interesting experiences! Lol!!
