I am a funeral director/embalmer in Florida. It is extremely common in our industry to contract with out-of-state funeral homes when a loved one passes while away from home. I have dealt with too many funeral homes to count due to those circumstances and NONE have matched the service of Edwards. They were efficient, easy to communicate with, and went above and beyond their duties as a contracted funeral home that was only hired to simply file a death certificate and preform the cremation. My client family reached out to them with a concern when I was unavailable on a funeral and they were immediately put at ease by the staff. Later, Edwards even went out of their way to mediate with law enforcement so they could retrieve the loved one's personal effects and ship them to me - which they did on their own dime. I would like to specifically recognize Justin Smith and Jim Stroud. They made it abundantly clear by their attitudes and actions that they are in this industry for one simple reason: to help those at their greatest time of need - even when they have little to gain. As a funeral professional, I HIGHLY recommend Edwards to both client families and other funeral homes alike. I can not imagine how well they take care of their own client families after seeing the way they lovingly treated mine during their brief interactions. Thank...
Read moreLooks like my previous post was flagged by the owners for being “inappropriate.” There was nothing inappropriate about it other than the truth!! So here is: I don’t recommend having your loved ones funeral or cremation here. We were twenty dollar short, paid in cash, and they demanded those twenty dollars despite forgetting my grandmother at the funeral home. To begin with, they asked all the men to help get the coffin with my grandmother in it, in the hearse because they said they were “short staffed....” Then on the way to the cemetery we all see the hearse do a u-turn in the middle of a four lane road. We thought we were supposed to be following the hearse so they waved us down and was like “go to the cemetery, we forgot the coffin at the funeral home....” We tried to laugh the situation off that she would be late to her own funeral but this still doesn’t change their poor service. It was rude to count the money that many times for twenty dollars after forgetting her at the funeral home. They tried to brush it off and say “we were trying something new.”
This is the correct Edwards funeral home. I recall we got a brief snack at the...
Read moreJustin Smith and his staff exhibited the highest level of service and compassion to our family while taking care of the final arrangements for our dad. Meeting with the staff was timely and the visitation, service and burial were all conducted in a respectful and dignified manner. Misty was extremely helpful and knowledgeable from beginning to end. Mr Giles Stroud was respectful, accommodating and always available to answer questions, give guidance and consolation. We thank them for being there for us during this...
