The Wine & Cheese Place — Local services in Kirkwood

Been going here since they moved to this location years ago and they always asked for my phone # with area code for the rewards program. Went today to get some beer and at first she rang it up without asking my phone # for rewards. No biggee, she cancelled and then had me enter on keypad (first time I ever did this). Put in my number - not found. Oh, she said, let me look up you by name. Oh, your area code in computer is 999 (?) I said I’ve always verbally given my phone # with area code 314. So, I asked what my $ balance was for years of purchases - zero $. I said that’s not right. Another person who was there behind checkout said well you’ll have to call Paul at Forsyth location about that (in a I-couldn’t-care-less that there’s an issue). No more purchases for me...

I had a guy back home that taught me about cheese from behind the counter of his wine and cheese shop, when I was a young man; then I moved here. The staff has always been knowledgeable and friendly at my Midwest find. The multiple locations they now have are a treat, as I can usually find one near by if I need a fix of the finest things in life. This is where I've gone to get top shelf: liquor, wine, and cheese for a couple decades now. One of the many bright and shining jewels of life in St Louis. I'm new to the little ones (the original, across from the Ritz, was bigger by a lot and my first) and, I find them to be less overwhelming while still being resplendent with fun things to find. This place just keeps getting better....

I have shopped at this store on two occasions. Once while they were closed to in-store visits because of the pandemic and and again just after they reopened for in-store shopping. Both times I placed my order in advance online and I was very impressed by the large selection of wine and liquor. In particular they carry a brand of whiskey that I find difficult to locate and they also carry nigori sake which I have trouble locating. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The Wine & Cheese Place will be my go-to for wine and liquor, and I look forward to exploring all the other interesting items they...
