Oriental Super Mart — Local services in Knoxville

Finally checked out Oriental Super Mart and it’s definitely now my go shop for Korean food and cooking ingredients. Plus they have homemade kimchi! Traditional napa kimchi, radish kimchi, tofu kimchi, turnip kimchi (pictured). The lady (owner I believe) asked me if I liked fresh or older for my kimchi, and I told her fresh. I’m honestly gonna try both haha. She then goes to the back to get me a fresh batch! That was so sweet. They have a ton of other homemade foods too. There’s a great assortment of drinks, snacks, noodles, and fish. They also had the frying mix I’ve been looking for so I can try to make Korean Fried Chicken. I love this place. I've been to countless Korean restaurants in multiple states and this is the BEST kimchee I've ever had. The classic napa is my go to but they also have several other vegetable options such as green onion, cucumber, daikon etc. Great ramen selection that does favor the Korean options mostly. You can get almost any Buldak flavor here. Walk in cooler for fresh veggies is also a nice touch as well as well as a nicely stocked freezer section. They have a decent selection of items. However, be prepared to pay with cash. This was my first trip to this market. I tried using 2 different cards there and both times she told me they don't work. One was my debit card and then a credit card I only use occasionally. Funny that we went down the road to Gus' right after and didn't have one problem paying for our meal with my debit card. I could have sworn I saw a green check on the screen and then she hit cancel. Seems shady. I usually don't have cash with me, but thankfully my husband did.
